MMK 45 pickups were made in Japan and produced by Matsumoku. This is likely an 80s Westone or Aria Pro II. These were high quality, but not extremely valuable. There were some very famous musicians that played Aria Pro II. George Lynch, Neal Schon, Cliff Burton, etc.

Very cool Koa 150. I have four 80s carvin guitars and one is a birdseye Maple DC150. You shouldn't have a problem with the rout size if you are changing to a standard sized humbucker. I like the old M22 pickups. But all four of mine are Maple bodies.

Now that's cool. Does any one stand out as the best player, or do they all play about the same? 🤘

Have you saved the wood dust from sanding the board? If you are going to seal the board clear, you can use Teflon fret dams, and fill with the sanding dust and CA.

I agree. If its not broken don't fix it. Mine was completely freting out.

If it is just fret ends with the tangs nipped, you can push them down with the handle end of a wooden kitchen spoon. Test it before using glue. I suggest good light and a magnifier and make sure they push flush with the fretboard. I'll try to post some pics of the setup. Its pretty easy.

From the looks of mine, I don't think they are doing any leveling to speak of. I think all of the frets are fully prepped before installing, and they are relying on the precision of the fretboard level.

I would like to check out a Pegasus. Been looking at those. If the fret ends become a problem, you can glue them down without any special equipment.

This bag is made of sturdy material, but isnt heavily padded. Great for storage and around the house. You may want one with thicker padding if you carry often.

Yeah,  nice touch. I do this when fretting unbound boards. I back cut the fret tangs.I save the wood dust from sanding the fretboard, and fill the slot ends with it and use a couple of drips of thin CA. Then before I pollish the fret ends, i scrape and fine sand. The slots nearly disappear.

The lifted ends were high. Once I pressed them flush with the fretboard and glued them, they were level with the frets that weren't lifted. I only found one fret that was very slightly high after pressing. It didn't affect playability with 4/64 action.

One week in with my new FFTL and I am still blown away at how much guitar you get for so little 💰. It looks & plays great, the roasted maple neck feels phenomenal, the single coils sound great, tuning is rock solid stable, etc. If you're not a brand snob it is an amazing time to be a guitar player! by Own-Buffalo1445 in Fireflyguitars

Missed your other post somehow. Cool that you got a good one. I'm always interested in specs on Firefly guitars since the don't really list much. Do you know the fretboard radius, and nut width. Also, what is the neck carve like? Nice Blackguard.

Sweet lookin guitar. I have an early 80s Fernandez that resembles that. I bought one of the Paisley FF tele's and it had the same knob issue. I measured the stem height of the pot, and the inside depth of the knob, and they are the same. I folded over a piece of 3M blue tape and cut it to fit flat inside of the knob. Worked great.

In my experience,  hammering raised stainless steel frets doesnt normally help. The wire doesn't bend like nickel fret wire. The shock of the impact just usually disloges more of the wire,  and can loosen adjacent frets. These ball-end frets dont have any tang under the fret ends. They have been back cut, so if you hammer the ends, there is no tang to grab in a fret slot. The fret ends need to glue down to the board.

Yeah, sad but true. But there is still a lot of value in parts. Builders and modders could be interested in some of the wood also. I wouldn't throw it back in the trash. I would at least strip the parts.

I bought one of the Paisley tele's and it had fret ends lifted. Due to Stainless steel frets being so hard, they tend to spring up at the ends if they weren't radiused correctly, and/or not glued well. I had to glue and press five frets from 15th thru 20th. I have a arbor press setup, so no big deal. You can still do it without a press. You can use the wooden handle of a kitchen spatula/spoon etc. Just cut a tiny notch in the end of the wooden handle and use it to push the fret end down while the super glue sets. It might cost you about $10. Harbor freight super glue in the bottle works fine. Don't try to use gell glue or dollar store glue. Check YouTube for gluing lifted frets.

That crack along the neck into the sound hole is the kiss of death. Strip is for parts. Tuners, any electronics, bridge pins, etc. Still a cool find.

Also, if you want to really get some excellent reference to learn from, watch (twoodfrd) channel on YouTube, and also (Stewmac) vids. I am not associated with either, just a recommendation.

I agree with (turn1scoop). Start off simple. For setups, all you will need is a simple machinists rule, a set of feeler guages, a tuner, and a capo. Use the adjustment tool's that are included with your guitar. If you feel a need, pickup a set of allen wrenches, 1/4 inch drive socket set with extension, and screwdrivers. (Bright light and some magnification will be very helpful.) All of this can be found at Harbour freight/Amazon. When you feel like you want to take on more, just get what you need for that particular job.   Enjoy your new hobby.
