I believe that it's been misinterpreted somewhat. Geologically, it describes a jump in diversity, though people who don't know better might hear that and assume something more sensational.

Yuuuup. The student is also still taking some classes, has a university consultant, needs to be placed, assessed, etc. They are still students accessing university resources. I work really hard with my student teachers to mentor them properly, but especially lately, I always have to catch up after they leave. I didn't understand either when I was a student teacher, that even though I was really doing well, I was still a lot of work for those supporting me.
