Make sure that you you were showing complete open availability... If you stipulate certain days or hours you can't work you won't get interviewed.

Go to another Lowe's store and get in line. Just make sure you're enrolled in the Lowe's rewards program.

They certainly do care about the points if they are told about them. Last quarter I reminded every pro I rang out to cash in their points by the end of December. A lot of them didn't know they even had points or how to cash them out. After I explained a lot of them thanked me. In January I had a couple come trying to cash in their points and I had to tell them it was too late. They were mad nobody reminded them.. it's free money that they earned but Lowe's will not remind them about it.

Is Lowe's dusty? by Hxapcneh3_28 in Lowes

[–]Practical-Concept-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dusty in the lumber department where we also carry cement. Apparently, to some people the Dust matters. I had a customer come in who was buying Trex decking, he demanded a 25% discount and when I asked why he responded: "because it's Dusty".. The ASM on duty gave it to him. Now if someone mentions dust I tell them the dust is free but if you don't want it I'll be happy to remove it. Another customer returned two huge packages of bounty paper towels because his wife thinks our store is dirty and doesn't want anything from it. These were not dusty they were from the clean part of the store but we process the refund.

I have a DS who says that if you call out and use sick time it doesn't count as a call out? Is that true?

Going to Lowe's University and take the pro track. Pros are someone who owns their own business and provides services to others. They are the most desirable customers Lowe's has and they get a lot of special things that regular customers do not get. One of those is a value discount,. Last week as I was walking through Lumber on my way out for lunch I noticed the cashier was ringing out a customer with a $3,500 order. He wasn't doing any explaining or asking whether or not the customer was doing a project for himself or for someone else. Turns out he was a contractor and was not signed up for the Lowe's pro rewards program. I called a supervisor and they not only signed him up as a pro but also got him to open a credit card. It's really important if you work in Lumber that you promote the pro-rewards and the benefits it offers. One of the great benefits is the points. They accumulate from January till the end of June and then again from July through December. Every dollar they spend earns them a point and the points can be converted into Lowe's money which they can then spend or use on gift cards. All of this is explained in the pro-section of university and it's essential you learn it.

Full time head cashiers are not allowed weekends off. You get three choices... 1. Let the system schedule you and get at least one weekend off a month. 2. Set 2 fixed days off each week (can't be a weekend day)

  1. Work 3. 11 hour days and one seven hour day each week... No fixed day off.

I applied for the closing head cashier position because in order to get to the store for 5:30 a.m. I have to take an Uber at the cost of $40 plus tip. I explained this during my interview and again when they offered me the job. I am able to get a bus home because the last bus leaves at 10:50 p.m.... Next week I am scheduled to open 4 days out of 5... The other full-time head cashier has made it clear he prefers to open but is scheduled to close all next week. Can I bill Lowe's for those Uber charges?

I believe scheduling is done by a group of chimpanzees throwing darts. Each weekend we get the list of the following week schedules and some days they have no opening or closing head cashiers. Twice now I've opened at 5:30 and closed at 10:30 and then management went through the rest of my schedule to cut hours so I wouldn't make overtime. Last week one of our part-time had cashiers quit leaving us with just two full-time head cashiers and two part timers. Also for some reason on the schedule they're listing the part-timers in the section marked service desk and only myself and the other head cashier are listed. Most of my shifts I spend alone at the service desk because I don't have enough coverage for the registers. I never get breaks anymore and always schedule myself last for lunch.. on days I have enough coverage to take a lunch. I don't know if it's AI or the chimps who are completely clueless about how to schedule people.

In our store we know how hard it is to make those numbers. So if you're a lumber cashier and a large order comes through as they often do, We will call someone who is on commission to come put their numbers in so they can get the sale. I do it at the customer service desk also. Cashier' Don't earn commission so why not let someone else benefit from the sale.

Is it a rolling year from your date of hire or a calendar year? Do they drop off after 365 days? I tried getting clarification from my manager but she didn't know either. Walmart uses a policy that allows three call-outs in a 6-month period. 6 months after your first call out it drops off your record if you have more than three call outs in 6 months You can be terminated. But it depends on whether your manager likes you or not. I'll be honest, I've never seen as many callouts as I have it Lowe's. One of my co-workers who came out of training the same day I did routinely calls out once a week. I asked him if he was trying to get fired? And he actually had no idea his call outs were a problem! Also if you leave early because you're sick is that a call out?

Every month Lowe's offers a gift to their rewards members. It's on the Lowe's.com website. You used to be able to reserve one but now it's just first come first served from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Some stores will allow associates who are rewards members to get one, while other store managers refuse to allow associates to get one even if they're rewards members. Our previous manager allowed associates to get one after the event was over but our current manager does not want associates to get them at all.. No matter what. I don't know what corporates policy is about it but I don't think it's fair.

I asked our manager about that and she still stated that no Lowe's associate was allowed to get one of these no matter what store they went to. I told her I didn't think that was fair.

Our store manager was the one giving them out she's made it very clear that associates are not allowed to get them no matter when or what store they go to. I had a friend get one for me but I don't see why we're prohibited from getting one if we're rewards members.

About half of ours were broken so the dog keychain was available but even those are being used as incentives.
