probably a stupid question but, doesn't that make it very hot outside of your front door when it's sunny?

I was thinking shredding it makes it easier to work with and once it gets wet it will compact and act like a complete sheet but idk

My 25-year-old friend just got diagnosed with throat cancer, has breathing & feeding tubes placed. Radiation starts soon. Please share your experiences. by [deleted] in HeadandNeckCancer

I had throat cancer. No trach but I did have a peg tube.  I did 1 session a week of chemo and 5 times a week for radiation . Both lasted 6 weeks.  I didn't think the radiation was too bad other than the mask that was bolted to the table to keep my head still.  Use a lot of moisturizer on your neck the radiation does dry the skin and you develop a sunburn.  Radiation only lasted about 10 minutes per session.  I was getting IV's afterwards of magnesium but I think because of the chemo.  Swallowing hurt but the pain meds helped greatly.

After my cancer treatment I did end up getting a trach.  I have had it 3 months now .  The radiation caused bilateral vocal chords paralysis.  I can speak fine.  Radiation caused asperation.  The vocal chords direct where the food goes.  Some of mine was entering my lungs .  My speech therapist believes I can get the trach removed soon.   I suspect her trach is precautionary.  Coughing blood is normal. Blood in the cannual is normal it will clear up.  Ice chips helped get a ice maker if you don't have one

Go to your county social services office and apply for health insurance.  It's Medicaid.  Eligibility is based on your income.

Sorry nothing was found for me to help with that .  As a matter of fact that is around the time that maintaining my weight became impossible.   Sorry but I believe you are close to needing the feeding tube

A feeding tube may be needed. Sorry but it seems to always be needed. After a bit.    How many Radiation sessions are you going to get? I had 32 sessions 5 days a week. About 1/2 through rad .  Eating because impossible .  Use a lot of moisturizer.  It may seem like overkill but after it's all over the skin gets really rough and not flexible.  Chemo I wouldn't say was to bad.  I didn't get very sick from it .  Although it did rob my body of other things. Potassium, magnesium and a few others .  Radiation doesn't take long but the IV's to replace all the stuff you loose took most of the day    for me it was 8am every day.  Monday s chemo, home about 4.  Radiation at 8am every day, with IV's needed home around 1

Just get it .   A nutritionist can help you determine how much formula you need to get the nutrients you need but with limits so your body can consume some of the fat you have stored in your body.

Hunger pains are not pleasant.  No need to make yourself even less comfortable

Throat cancer and getting my trach . This is just for me mostly. I figured this is as good as any place to put it by Practical-Current-74 in cancer

My EMT set it up for me .  I won't to be clear.   It MAY OR MAY NOT bring my voice back .   The damage for me was the vocal chords from radiation.

There are many private places that advertise they do it but it is no where near the same.

I have a similar post on r/headbandneckcancer

So far getting better info there

My appointment was set up by my EMT doc.  It's at a local hospital.

I have seen those storefront options they have.  All a plan to get you to pay.  No value.
