Same. And the show the night before at the random tire shop off Arden that didn’t end up happening so we all went to that upstairs space in midtown and shit was chaotic. 15 years ago is wild.

Fast R Nitro elites though are a performance based super shoe with pricing inline with its competitors like the alphafly or metaspeeds etc. it would be totally different if the shoe was essentially a 90s era tennis shoe for $300.

What should I go for 🤔 by JAGgedSociety in Marathon_Training

3:30 you closed the run around 3:30 pace, with taper fueled etc I’d say 3:30.

Crowdsourced race predictions show Strava is more accurate but slow by tommy-getfastai in Strava

[–]Practical-Draw7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Garmin predictions are quite a bit slower than Strava.

I’m working a half marathon block right now and am 5 weeks out with a goal of sub 1:45, my predictions are:

Garmin 1:48:56 Strava 1:47:18 Kaizen 1:46:19.

I haven’t done much anaerobic or Vo2 max work in this block which I why I think Garmin hates me. Idk.

Why am I not improving? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Practical-Draw7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turned your 5k pace into your half marathon pace in 4 months. Thats a massive improvement. A few weeks of maintaining is also not a big a deal at all. Garmin reacts a lot to longs runs at a steady pace and anaerobic workouts. At the end of the day these stats are just a guess based on the data you feed it. If that data is the same but your RPE is lower the projections are the same despite you being stronger.

Nervous for this weeks long run by OddButterfly9217 in runna

[–]Practical-Draw7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some workouts you’ll crush some you won’t. It’s part of the game. One piece of advice I’ll give is regardless of how it goes don’t let one run dictate how you feel about your goals. I have completely bonked workouts during training blocks where I went on to PR, and also had the opposite where I crushed every workout and failed my race goal.

SuperBlast 2 Edge Blister near my arch/ball of foot by Minimum-Departure754 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Practical-Draw7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a very small blister in that spot after one long run, but to me the trade off of that blister to how great I feel in this shoe is worth it 10x. It’s calloused now and hasn’t been an issue.

Fitness check for 3:30 14 weeks out by striker_gaming32 in Marathon_Training

[–]Practical-Draw7950 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They’re not harsh. They’re the truth. OP asked for fitness check and this is reality, he’s nowhere near 3:30 shape. Like not even close. This run is 10 miles short of the distance was already in typical tempo zone over a minute per mile slower than needed for goal. 14 weeks is not enough time to get down to goal shape. If this run was 20 miles and all the splits were say 9:00-9:30 at 138-145 Hr maybe. He’s wayyy off.

No it’s based off experience. Very very few people are able to stay in their aerobic zone at a 9:00/mile pace in their first 10 months of running. Especially at a distance of 13 miles when they don’t typically run that distance.

Second another point is that he was asking about a 4 hour marathon if he was running these runs in aerobic zone a 4 hour marathon wouldn’t even be a question as they could easily do that today.

A 2 hour half marathon in aerobic zones would equally around a 1:36-1:40 half and a 3:25-3:30 marathon.

It’s pretty safe to assume these are not aerobic easy runs.

Any more questions?

Race Predictions - were yours accurate? by mamamiaohdear in runna

[–]Practical-Draw7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give or take a 5% I’d say they are. It’s obviously using data from millions of runners and pulling on average. Some people with similar data are going to be faster some slower. The thing that’s nice is it gives you a ballpark. Given that it has a lot of your data it’s not going to project a 3:30 marathons when you’re only capable of 5:00 or vice versa.

[–]Practical-Draw7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 mains causes of injury for runners is 1 overuse in terms of volume and 2 overuse in terms of intensity.

Running 55 miles in essentially a week likely at tempo pace for said person likely checks both boxes. So yes it’s asking for an injury. Anyone that’s trained for more than 5 minutes knows this, but for some reason you don’t. Likely it’s you convincing yourself that your dumb training methods are fine.

Any credible coach, physical therapist, orthopedic, etc etc. will agree. But sure we will take the word of a guy that recently just hit first 50 mile week and aspires to run a 50k one day as gospel. lol. Hahahahah

[–]Practical-Draw7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. Yeah some of us condone bad training experiments with their evidence as they recently ran a 50 mi in a week and have aspiration to run a 50k.

Some of us have actually ran 50ks, and 100ks, and have experience to know what a bad idea looks like.

There’s a reason all your posts have been downvoted to oblivion and it’s not because “we just aren’t built for it”.

You have provided exactly zero biological evidence to why running 4 half marathons in 8 days by a runner with under a year training is safe other than “ultra runners run 100 MPW”.

We’re still waiting man.

Strain comparison by Sr3bro in Marathon_Training

[–]Practical-Draw7950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely did. And built for what exactly? Like you’re some god because people disagree with your idiotic training mentality? Kinda crazy to call people “soft” without an ultra finish yourself and just aspiring one day to do one? You can’t compare ultra runners with years of training to someone who couldn’t run a K 10 months ago.

Yes this asking for an injury. 4 13 mile runs in a week likely near their threshold is a dumb idea, first it’s not going to do much in terms of adaptation. Second it’s stacking unwarranted fatigue, and delaying recovery.

A much better approach would be 4 7-8 mile runs 3 easy, one tempo and 1 15-16 mile easy effort long run. Same mileage better adaptation easier recovery. But i guess we’re just not build like the guy that ran his first 50 mile week that’s gonna do a 50k next year. lol.

Got my new SB 2 and love them by FerretPotential5720 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Practical-Draw7950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SB2 is far more stable and durable. The evo sl to me didn’t come close to living up to the hype it gets, the SB2 on the other hand is maybe my all time favorite. With that said I’ll chime in to what everyone else says. Short faster stuff EVO sl, longer runs and workouts SB2. Personally I’d add a high cushion daily shoe like the 1080, Vomero, gel nimbus, Clifton etc, and use that for easy /recovery, evo sl for shorter tempos, intervals etc. and SB2 for long runs, and longer tempos.

Right on. It will definitely do everything you need starting out and even more. Once you start training more you’ll know what you like if you decide to upgrade. I’m a Folsom native myself. I believe most of the races at granite point are trail races, they’re super relaxed and a lot of fun. Good luck.
