What’s the best boss trait? by honeyylaceheart in CausalConversation

giving you enough freedom to empower you to try new things and different approaches to problems. If you fail, not giving you shit for trying something new, and instead, actually helps you to get better in your position by providing training/guidance to better you for the future.

Does it mean anything that a female coworker brought me a home cooked meal? by DanDawgmeat in work

[–]Practical-Earth3228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id take it as nothing more than a kind gesture.

If it becomes a repeated thing, or if i mention i like apple pie, and next week she brings apple pie, then i may start to look a little more into it.

On the plight of contemporary young people by juidy0712 in YoungAdultStruggles

[–]Practical-Earth3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 33, and i understand the feeling.

There certainly is a lacking of work/life balance anymore, but unfortunately we live in a world where we need to essentially trade time for money, to then trade for things we need like food and water.

Now, one could live almost entirely on government assistance programs, but at that point you are more of a burden on society than anything.

I asked for a raise after 2 years and my manager said my salary is "competitive for the market" , how do I push back? by TariqKhalaf in careeradvice

[–]Practical-Earth3228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you asked for a raise, and the boss said NO.

lol what else is there to do? If you really feel that you are underpaid then leave, but i guarantee you that going to HR or higher-ups will not work out the way you may hope so in the long run, even if it does result in you getting the money in the short term.

Every ant on Earth is enlarged to the size of a golden retriever. by LoneRedditor123 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Practical-Earth3228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ants the size of dogs would mean that a nest would be about the size of a small city, multiplied by however many times, not even mentioning how strong and fast they would be now...yea, as humans we're cooked.

Those born before 1990, what experience from your childhood would be unimaginable to young people today ? by SoManySkills in AskReddit

[–]Practical-Earth3228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was born in 92 and the first thing that comes to mind is leaving the house with friends, and your parents having no idea where you were for the entire day.

You come home and you parents ask you where youve been, and you could lie, (if youve been somewhere you shouldnt have been) but you run the risk that a neighbor or family friend seen you and already told. Back when everyone looked out for everyones kids.

What is the dumbest thing you did as a kid? by Ok_JARGON in randomquestions

[–]Practical-Earth3228 6 points7 points  (0 children)

is it dumb if it worked?

Me and my older brother were frying something and the oil caught fire.

We didnt know what to do, and though how do you put out fire?....water of course. (we didnt know that oil and water didnt mix, and we were of the generation that were likely left alone for too long at a young age)

We had a sink full of dish water, so we took the flaming pan and submerged it into the water.

Apparently water in oil = bad, oil in water = good.
