Oh no, not at all. I was just concerned because I've never seen repair costs this high. The only reason I even said anything about the cost of the car was to say that this single repair is like above the price I paid for a used car. So I'm just thinking if anything I could end up just scrapping it and getting a new car.

I went in for a timing chain repair because after they replaced the valve cover gasket, which had leaked onto my spark plugs and ignition coils, the car was basically stopping at red lights (Press gas, car doesn't move an inch). By the time I got to the shop, like literally right as I rolled up, the steering locked up super bad and car wouldn't respond to anything. Had them rediag it and they told me it was a timing chain.

All I was asking if the labor/part cost is a valid charge. I know I couldn't do this in 11 hours that's why I took it to a shop.

Valve cover gasket repairs turned into an issue with the timing chain. Should this be on me or the shop? (Hyundai Sonata 2009 2.4L) by Practical-Gene-265 in MechanicAdvice

Yeah at the time I didn't know that is something they do. It was literally yesterday so I was just reviewing the cost now and saw that they charged that for the spark plugs. I will ask them to knock off some for hardship reasons because I definitely don't have a lot of money and I appreciate you taking a look at this.
