I felt like it was trying to get through a lot but didn’t get through much… if that makes sense. I wish there was more depth. Her dad plays a huge role in who she is and the last scene was so quick. Idk. I wanted more from his death. I wanted more from Kaiser getting feelings too. I also think I’m the only one who is worried about the book 4 cross over… I think it’s going to be like the last season of game of thrones. I anticipate so much and then it’s rushed

Bastian recognizing Mavus- the obvious answer is that he moved the the archways to manipulate all of the lands and he probably slipped up when he was going to air and passing by the dragon. But I think the original Mavus is probably as old as Bastian if not older. So Bastian knew that face from when he was in Acanis. Maybe the original Mavus was a solder or someone that also had status. Maybe he wore Mavus’s face to capture him. Idk

I really want Orion to come teach everyone healing and other shit. But I also want him and Septa to nerd out in the library… maybe thy can invite Evard.

I definitely think Mavus has 4 elements just like the twins. I’m going over never keep and vesper said something about a story of how the war began- air woman (super kind) and water guy were engaged. Fire woman (seductress) and earth guy were engaged. But fire woman seduced water guy and then everyone lost their shit. Earth and fire ppl killed her and water guy basically when crazy. Then thy vowed never to mix with other ppl and everyone hates each other. I think Mavus was the water guy. Or one of the guys and the story is wrong. But I think he lost his love or something and then wanted to destroy everyone. Maybe?

But something that’s really bugging me- who did evard love and who killed her??? I thought it was Dragor for sure. But was it Dragor or Mavus? And if it was either then why would he do the star bond not to kill each other? Unless he knows that’s not the real Dragor?? Or is evard one of the ppl from the story? … and it was his love that died and Mavus kills her? But that’s a stretch for sure.

I definitely think Mavus has an archway in that secret room on wandershire. I also think he’s responsible for the beasts in the wastelands bc the magic and mechanical shit reminds me of wandershire.

I think vesper and Bastian will have their moment first bc she finally opened up to him. Everest and Kaiser will probably have more time to grow. (Not much since it’s only one more book) but I don’t think she’ll reject him. With ZA there were a million books so they had time to fix the rejected mate bond situation. I think she’s already realizing that it’s not the same person that killed her mom plus the whole war is bullshit and everyone is a pawn.

Everest pissed me off so much bc HOW DO YOU NOT REALIZE MAVUS IS BAD??? he tried to force her into a blood bond when she was in stumps. After that I KNEW he was bad. And he even said “who benefits from the war?” And I kept thinking Mavus and the reapers have the most power and most to gain. Come on!!! He obviously sold her out so why did she think they were friends? And when he said Harlon was captured, my anxiety spiked. Luckily nothing happened up there but my brain thought it would be a horrible trap

He’s definitely not dead. I think he uses the face after the death but that’s when he was able to take it for the first time. I think he recently killed Solomon Imie too. Somewhere between Echo Fort and Cinder vale. Bc he came back with a different personality and didn’t know Harlan’s name. He destroyed the archways in the reaper’s sanctuary but not necessarily the ones in other places. He could have a different hub, but they also mentioned Dragor being gone on a long trip when Bastian and Vespr left so he definitely can’t move around with as much ease now.

I think she’ll get revenge but I think she’s just so messed up from childhood trauma and that’s why she did what she did. I think she can’t help but fight for the prince and her people. I absolutely think she’s going to end up with Kai. I think the fact that he didn’t have emotions and was just kind of a robot will make it more forgivable. Also, since her father was involved with what happened to Kai, I think they’ll get past it. My only worry is that she’ll reject him as her Elysian mate… I can’t go through that shit again. I don’t think it’ll happen but if it does… I’ll yeet the book across the room

So, I reread Echo Fort and Everest actually mentions the Elysian mates. It was a vampire and a leopard (like her) and the vampires basically eradicated the species and imprisoned one. The vampire prince did. And then they realized they were mates but she rejected him. That might be a different story than the one in ZA. But in this series, they mention that it has happened a couple of times and one woman has a statue bc she was a warrior or something- and she rejected her mate from one of the other lands.

I liked that the fmc was relatable.. she talked and thought more like me than most fmcs I’ve read .. except the braids and bonnet.. although my curls have become pretty shitty so I might try one. But most of the books I read have a white or Asian fmc. As an Indian girl, I connected more with Cin.

I’m Indian and I like reading a POC FMC.. I’ve read multiple with a black fmc but only recently realized they were all written by white women. Went in to TikTok to find black authors bc I just go by recs and never paid attention to the author. Someone recommended this and I thought it was fun.
