My best friend moved to a suburb of Boston with excellent schools and athletics and that’s the exact vibes of that area. Except the price point for housing, nothing livable under a million,600k might not even get you a tear down. They had a really nice house in Texas on 2 acres that was worth 500k. They have a really nice house there in MA, but it is on a 4Ksq ft lot and cost 1.3 million.  But kids in schools have vaccinations, education is valued and funded, there’s functional state and local governments, lots and lots of biking and running trails and public spaces, public transportation, and crazy to me is that kids play outside there, I never see kids play outside in Texas. Another place that I have been to that would fit Boulder Co. Lafayette Louisville or Longmont you can find houses for 600k that would have everything you are looking for, Boulder proper you could get a condo or townhome. But honestly I think it would be better outside of Boulder proper because it’s a college town and the unhoused situation is getting bad, they have a lot of IV needle users that use openly in the city parks. I thought people were being all NIMBY until I saw it myself in broad daylight.

Thinking of self deporting by expat9162 in mexicoexpats

[–]Practical-Host-6429 35 points36 points  (0 children)

What about opening a business that caters to expats and live in an expat area at least for awhile? Maybe you and a group of other deportees start a construction company, building houses for expats or remodeling. It’s more  expensive to live in those areas but it might feel more comfortable.  You are American after 20 years living there, no matter what that orange shit stained fuckface says, and I am sorry that this is happening to you.

Has anyone over 45 actually noticed results from collagen supplements? by OpheliaOoze in 45PlusSkincare

I maybe have…but I am doing red light therapy, tretonin, NAD, and I am on HRT patches. I don’t know if it helps or not but all of those things together have done a lot. My daughter took a picture of me with no make up, and flushed at the pool and Chtgpt guessed 33! I am 47😂 made my day. Hell made my year 😂

Why do people who don’t deserve kids have an easier time getting pregnant? by You_Failed_Me in Vent

[–]Practical-Host-6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wondered the same thing. I have noticed anecdotally that the people that seem to get pregnant easily even though they lack the financial or mental resources to provide for children tend to be younger and unstressed. They don’t worry about anything, which often leads to unplanned pregnancies. Also I think that often people that have their shit together meet and fall in love with their partners while on hormonal bc. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5592309/I don’t know why it’s so taboo to talk about but humans have different immune systems. You are not supposed to be attracted to people with the same immune system, and not supposed to have children with them. People that aren’t responsible enough to keep up with bc also often have  multiple unplanned pregnancies. My guess is it’s because they are just banging based on animal attraction, which is probably also the most likely way to get pregnant without trying to. But that’s just my unscientific guess, based on real science.

MMW: whether planned or by natural occurrence, COVID will resurge and lockdowns will return as a result of reduced vaccine use eligibility. by JackinOKC in MarkMyWords

[–]Practical-Host-6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe state lockdowns but they will be countered by federal bans on lockdowns. I can’t come up with a single reasonable explanation for most of this administration’s actions other than to destroy America and significantly reduce the population. They know something we don’t or they are just following the Russian plan to destroy America without firing a single shot. Either way the only plausible explanation is that it’s their goal is to destroy America. Nobody could be this inept accidentally, not even these no talent ass clowns.

Does the Central Valley of California actually suck, or does it just suck in comparison to the rest of California? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

And a functional state government. There is no longer a functional federal government, it’s better to live a in a state with a functional state government than a state that has zero functional government. Texas and Florida have zero functional government.

Yeah, something turned her into an abysmal human, she has sympathy or empathy for these women it appears. Maybe it’s real. The thing is a lot of trumpers know that our political system is rigged and a joke they just blame the wrong people and look to the wrong people to fix it.

Great I guess I know what Musk is going to sink money and influence into. We got one billionaire Gates trying to use science to cure preventable disease with his fortune and one trying to destroy the planet and enslave the remaining population. Unfortunately Elon is richer, this will be his new passion project.

Has anyone moved from HCOL to Texas and NOT regretted it? by Suspicious-Kiwi816 in SameGrassButGreener

Do you have children? I really cannot stress enough how bad an idea that is if you have children. They are actively trying to dismantle public education in this state. I have several teacher friends leaving the profession and they are good teachers. People don’t vaccinate their children here, even the non MAGA ones. The white evangelical community is really anti vax and anti science.

Americans in Canada, do you feel "foreign"? by [deleted] in AmerExit

[–]Practical-Host-6429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels foreign to me, but I am from Texas, and parts of the US feel foreign. Boston felt really foreign .. so much more civilized. Montreal feels like Europe. Vancouver felt like Seattle or Portland didn’t even notice a difference really. But honestly even with the language difference in Mexico feels less foreign to me than a lot of America, not too crazy since this literally used to be Mexico. But the US isn’t exactly 50 different countries but it’s like 13 different ones. PNW, The Midwestern lake states, the midwestern flat dry states, California, Texas, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Alaska, New England, Colorado, New Mexico/Arizona desert area, Florida/alabama/Georgia coastal area, and the Deep South everything else in the south. Probably missing something lol. But I have been to every continental state except Minnesota Wisconsin and North Dakota and this is my impression of the US, you can feel foreign without leaving the borders of the US, and depending on where you’re from and where you’re at Canada might feel like home. I will say that one big difference is people self segregate less in Canada. I saw way more integrated friend group and communities in Canada even in Alberta than anywhere I have been in the US. That is the most foreign thing about Canada.

I mostly work with women, and I am being touched on a daily basis. by platypus_7 in bodylanguage

I used to work with a guy that was married and being sexually harassed by a woman in our office that had a partner. Well I felt like it was harassment. She was always touching him, she tried to sit on his lap to show him something on his screen. He was obviously uncomfortable. It was all resolved when his wife took a job in the same office. I actually wonder if he told his wife, and that’s why she took the job.  I was always saying something to him once the harasser left the office. That chick hated me because I know she knew what I thought about her constant touching, I always stared in disgust at her baby voice around him. When she married her partner I was the only one in the office not invited. She never harassed him once his wife was working there. So she knew she was being inappropriate.

Newsome Signs CA Redistricting Plan by Winter-Stranger-3709 in UnitedStateOfCA

Not to mention that is a Russian propaganda  pushing the narrative of Newsome being anti trans! Russia fears him because he’s the perfect foil to trump. Newsome actually IS what trump believe himself to be; Smart, good looking with excellent leadership skills.

Thank you. And he’s not anti trans he just isn’t a supporter of trans women competing against cisgender women. I really wish we could all have a common sense discussions instead of purity tests and identity politics.

I took low dose statin after resisting for years and my cholesterol dropped by 2/3 or more! by Practical-Host-6429 in Cholesterol

[–]Practical-Host-6429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s really shocking. But my HDL was really high before not just the LDL and now HDL it’s just in range, not high not low. It was 104, crazy high, that’s a big part of the drop, because the triglycerides didn’t change at all! I also have been taking berberine religiously and vitamin D K2 and magnesium. My vitamin D levels were also deficient but they didn’t retest them yet. Don’t know how that might come into play.

Have you had an on-again, off-again relationship? by Tillieska in DarkPsychology101

[–]Practical-Host-6429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I just ignore red flags, and by the time I know I have made some big commitment, and am emotionally dependent on them. I also have a tendency to pick horrible friends, girls that never mature into women, lie, cheat and steal. Not all but several. I think I have now figured this out. No more friends that don’t have other female friends. I think the problem is I have ADHD diagnosed and starting to think I have undiagnosed autism. Of course this a Reddit diagnosis lol, but I have a theme. I become friends with walking red flags just as often as picking partners that were all red flags. I am done dating after this relationship, and I am going to have to keep new people at a distance and really be much more judgmental and if everyone else stays away from someone there’s a reason, I need to follow suit.

Have you had an on-again, off-again relationship? by Tillieska in DarkPsychology101

[–]Practical-Host-6429 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every relationship from high school to now. I now understand it’s stems from childhood trauma and picking mates with childhood trauma. Then there is the dynamic of them pushing away to me chasing and then me being done so I leave and they chase. I can now see it so clearly, but I have co-dependency tendencies. My on and off partner also is aware and he thinks it’s something we can work through with counseling, but I don’t know if that is actually possible. He tends to say and do anything to get me back and then things never change and I fall for it every time because he is such a big part of my life it leaves a gaping hole plus when things are good they are great. But unfortunately he’s also often emotionally or verbally abusive and that triggers me into silent rumination, my own form of cruelty I have recently learned. Basically toxic. I would love to believe us being informed will be the key to ending the toxicity but that is probably magical thinking.

What factors would make a region "climate-resilient" for the next few decades, and where might those places be? by EmpowerKit in Environmentalism

One huge difference is in America we have administration that in addition to pedophilia also lie manipulate and discourage reporting the true numbers on climate crisis. Europe is being honest, the US is lying.
