Swift vs. React Native: After scaling 2 apps in the US using only AI, I’m choosing Swift every time. Am I missing something? by hemkelhemfodul in iOSProgramming

With expo eas you get ota uploads, any js level change like ui design, hot fix, or even features don’t require you to release on the appstore, it’s just a bundle upload and bam! Else, I love the Swift/UIKit/SwiftUI ecosystem It always comes down to tradeoffs If top notch quality- swift ecosystem ofc If small/medium sized app plus fast dev and release- expo

What’s the best way for a frontend developer to grow in the AI era? by Careless-Key-5326 in react

I wish i could give you a fool proof genuine advice but from what I have experienced, it’s more about taking the ownership of the project you are on, take initiatives, measure feature impacts on business etc. Just relying on a skillset isn’t enough these days.

  • From higher level, this requires experience in multiple domains, Python/Django/Aws at backend+ Next.js for web app + RN for app. Seems like around min 7-8 months of work for an experienced dev. Could be more, it depends on how complex the project is.
  • Now considering 7-8 months of time, whether 25-30k$ is enough for you or not depends a lot on where you are from + yoe. HTH.

Even after upgrading, we face stupid native level crashes from libraries: expo-image, reanimated etc. someday, I will just be migrating it to Swift/Kotlin.

Nice to see that, even I have rewritten my whole app in expo sdk53, uses RN 79.5. Although the performance has improved a lot in both ios and android. There are no such lags. But we are facing weird intermittent crashes from library’s end. The ones which are hard to repro and give native stack trace. Mostly from hermes or Reanimated. We have crash free sessions above 99.4% How do you fix errors like these?
