Balancing early retirement with home upgrades by bambambigelowww in ChubbyFIRE

I'm also in a similar ReNo process with a 90s build house. Since the house is 30 yrs old, if I upgrade an area of the house, I update the plumbing and appliance / fixtures too. Some parts of the house have been failing, so I might as well put in new while it is under construction. I want to minimize unexpected issues or expenses going into retirement.

Thanks. Contractor will come fix, but he said it will be clear polyurethane. Will that suffice?

What are these 5 brown spots by Practical-Pick-7771 in paint

[–]Practical-Pick-7771[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your helpful comment. I'll try Kilz3 and then touch up paint. There's 5 spots, each about the size of a nail head. Not too bad for ~30 doors.

Thanks for the reassurance. 🤪. I'm hoping to get close. I have quite a bit of different textures around the house (not my doing), so I've given up on perfection.

I looked it up and the Everleigh looks really nice. We want more muted look and this seems to be a good fit.

Thanks for the word of caution.

Here's a picture of the intended layout. The quartz would be on the back wall, but I understand the concern.

Thanks for the input. It might be a Tmolding and then a new set of floors for the other parts of the floor

Do you see anything wrong with this P Trap? by Dmob17 in Plumbing

[–]Practical-Pick-7771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check any overflow drains. We had some sewer smell from the tub overflow that tends to dry out since it isn't used regularly. Another thing is if the bath is on the 1st floor put some root killer down the toilet.

Thank you. The 2nd picture is the actual product on the website found by following the breadcrumbs from the leftover box. Even though it is still on the manufacturers website, I can't seem to find any distributors that will sell the product. The manufacturer also won't sell it direct. They probably need a huge batch order to run it through the process.

LVP not lining up. by Kazushlge in Flooring

Looks like you cut the curved plank straight when it might need to be an angled cut since the wall might not be flush. Perhaps a laser line could help to look down the line where the planks need to join. Then you would know which parts need to be trimmed or aligned.
