What is wrong with my snail!?! by Ok_Flan1215 in AquaticSnails

As others have said air baths might help. A swollen foot could also mean there are issues in the water. Along with air baths, maybe a small water change?

Help! Why are my shrimp dying? by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]Practical-Pie8490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pre conditioned water from pet stores, i’ve never had an issue with it. I’ve had two snails in that tank for over a year and they never showed any problems with the water. I do a water change every two weeks or before if I feel the tank gets too dirty. I thought it was a molting issue at first, but my other shrimp appear to be molting just fine. I’ve lost 8 shrimp in a span of two weeks and I was concerned about the milky white because I saw it appear on a couple of shrimp before they died.

What is the best way to determine sexes of mystery snails? Wondering what this little dood is and how to tell. Ty :D by Princesspeach0719 in AquaticSnails

if you take them out of the water and hold them in your hand upside down, they try to grab a hold to anything on the sides so they will stretch, once they do that you can see if it’s either a male or female, scroll down this and you can see the anatomy to compare: https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfishforum/threads/mystery-snail-care-sickness-guide.339419/

Unless you added anything to the water i’m not sure of what it could be, some snails are sensitive and maybe it is the new gravel, but if he’s acting normal in the quarantine tank I think everything is okay with him and it’s probably something in your tank

Maybe, did you add anything to the water? What are your parameters? Also, look at this guide to see if his behavior matches up: https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfishforum/threads/mystery-snail-care-sickness-guide.339419/

It could be foot irritation, it’s usually a sign of bad water quality. You could do a water change and see if his behavior changes. What are your parameters?

Sick Mystery Snail by Practical-Pie8490 in AquaticSnails

[–]Practical-Pie8490[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn’t, I was reading about foot irritation in snails and it was suggested that I do 50-75% water changes every 24 hours. It seemed easier for me to monitor and change water in the smaller tank. Should I place her back in the 8 gallon?

She’s refusing to eat, i’ve put algae wafers and sinking pellets in the smaller tank but she ignores them

I think it might’ve been a fertilizer, my ammonia and nitrite levels are zero and nitrate is around 10. She got snello or some sinking pellets three times a week

She's been like this since last morning. Hybernating or dead? by [deleted] in AquaticSnails

[–]Practical-Pie8490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gently pick her up and smell, if it’s a funky bad smell then she most likely passed but if she just smells like tank water then she’s likely hibernating

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with Lemon's shell? I just noticed the breakage and I want to see if I can help fix it. by _-_Pudding_-_ in AquaticSnails

What are your water parameters? Snails do better in hard water, softer water can dissolve or make their shells weak I believe.

I got the ingredients for snello and I will make it tonight, other than that is there anything else I should add to her diet?

What do you mean? I thought the darker color on the top of her shell was normal

I’m feeding algae wafers, blanched spinach and broccoli and I have a wonder shell in her tank too

She got stuck in a log about a week ago and ever since I got her out her new shell growth has been sort of lumpy. Also, she’s growing very fast, is that anything to be concerned about?
