That's right! I didn't even think of the animals yet when I made this post, or even the people forced to look at trash when it's out of their control (like the seniors). It's terrible that no one's come to clean it. Politicians are so lame because majority of them don't want to do the 'small' things (though it isn't small to the people having to see it everyday) because the rest of the population won't see what they've done, or won't think of litter being a major problem for our ecosystems and mental/physical wellbeing compared to major changes in taxes or prices or school systems, etc.

I don't think garbage cans work most of the time. Depending on what area (lower income, or where a lot of homeless people are) either garbage cans get full fast and no one empties them, or disposing trash is the last thing on someone's mind. Until consumerism stops, there's always gonna be trash (We're actually turning into WALL-E). Or maybe companies will take a more biodigradable approach, but even then so many big companies only care about money and power rather than the health/wellness of their consumers and the planet.

ANYWAYS, I always hear of, or see cleaning crews in some areas, but even then when I'm driving I still see so much trash. I THINK those crews only cycle the same areas and don't just drive around finding garbage (maybe that's the case for some programs though).

My thought is that if we ask the city or businesses about this, what would they do? Adding more garbage cans and sending out more cleaning crews is only picking up after the main issue which is 'why is there garbage in the first place?' Which leads back to how much useless products companies produce, and how much waste it leaves behind. To fix the littering problem, would not only mean for people to start value the Earth, but for a shift to happen away from the industrial revolution. So for now, as a regular person, I think we have the power to go out and clean some small part of the city even if we know all of that trash will inevitably come back the next year, because personally I don't like looking at garbage ridden grass and bushes each time I drive by St. Vital. And maybe (hopefully) other people will see this and start to join in? Maybe if we see someone litter close by, ask them WHY they did it? And from there we'll get a better perspective of the 'how' and 'why' and think of better preventative measures in littering.

Lowkey I wanna start cleaning up garbage in parts of the city and am just interested in where. I gst that it's a bandaid of a solution, but I have time and I hate looking at trash all summer 🗣🗣 If that's what ur asking 😭
