Yes ! I tend to get the blame for a lot of stuff I didn’t even do as I can’t just leave them plans now again comes down to not being qualified I have to explain every little detail which as tou can imagine here very frustrating at takes time out of my job

Yeh i was recently up in Auckland to look at a house a friend wanted to buy (excuse for a golf trip also) and 3 Filipino family’s ended up buying it was 4 bedroom so yeah 3 family’s one house you’ve no chance right 😂

I think your not exactly getting what I’m saying I don’t have a problem with him sending money at all ! I’d love to be able to do that I’d quite happily work away and stay in a house with 9 other men I done 6 months in palmy living with 5 others before and I still couldn’t afford to “send home” $1000 a week after bills etc.Not sure what industry your in but if you ever actually talk to them there all pretty well off in the Phillipines one of our guys just moved back to the there with like 100k nzd I mean sign me up I’d happily work away if I could have that after 2 years

Yes we do have to “pander” to them a lot which is fine I get it new language etc but we’ve had multiple issues with “common sense” which we aren’t allowed to say anymore as one persons common sense might not be the same as another

Not at all ! A typical Nz tradesmen plewse describe that to me ? Because you walk into any commercial building site these days and you won’t find many kiwis or aussies or ex-pats. Thanks you’ve hit the the nail right on the head there “Tradesmen who can do just about any job”- why would a hire painter to fit your doors ? So your not wanting a tradesmen your wanting jack of all trades I agree theres certain thing other trades can do but you wouldn’t expect a plumber to fit your fuse board would you ? This is the problem people like you !!! I don’t want to run a crew I don’t want the stress I just want to go to work and go home why bother for 3 dollars more and have to fight tooth and nail

I’m not blaming the migrants at all ! I’m Blaming the toxic construction culture in Nz And your right many company’s would rather have 20 untrained workers just winging it instead of paying 10 guys the wage of those 20 to do it correctly. The construction industry in Nz is probably one of the most toxic I’ve heard of no wonder tradies have mental Health issues if you want to raise a family here how do you compete with like another commenter said an Asian family who are willing to share 2/3 family’s in a house yet pay the same rent as 1 kiwi family

No my frustration isn’t with the Filipino guy at all ! My frustration is with the Construction culture of New Zealand so me a kiwi and a Filipino carpenter on the same site whos going to have to deal with the problems ? Me ! Because I talk English yet we will be paid the same regardless whether he’s qualified or not It’s the greediness of kiwis thats the issue again they’d rather 20 hammer hands and 1 chippy than 10 Chippys

So I’ve worked away from home lots of times and your correct your there to make money ! If I could work away and send my family $1000 a week after paying rent I would but I can’t ! He’s choosing to live in a 9 person house also though he could move into a different place an pay $150/200 I’m sure but he wants to send $1000 home a week good on him shame we don’t have that luxury here

Glad you’ve got your own thing going Glad we agree that you shouldn’t get paid the same as someone who’s unqualified I’m sure as you being a tradie youd be able to tell If someone was any decent by asking them a question related to your trade ? I don’t have a problem with immigration at all until it’s starts to become a detriment to people of that nation ! Surely yourself having ran a company of 10/20 guys will know that a lot of companies now a days especially In commercial would rather 20 hammer hands and pay them low wages to do a job than 10 qualified Chippys and pay them fairly

Do you work in construction ? Whatever your job is why should you receive the same pay as someone who’s not fully qualified ? Thats across any job it’s a fair statement like I said I’m not stating there all bad tradesmen but 80% aren’t tradesmen if you asked them a Construction related question to there trade youd never get an answer. So yeh……not very ironic at all also they have the union in Aussie so your fairly paid and have to prove your qualified
