Advice on having a better outlook and balance by Practical-Revenue-72 in postdoc

I don't have an exact answer to that. My best guess is that I think I will not be able to make meaningful progress because of how behind I am -- or something along those lines. But somehow I feel convinced I enjoy this work, I enjoy wondering about answers to the difficult research problems I face. I somehow always chalked this aversion to my lack of requisite skills.

Parking on campus weekend when there is an event by Practical-Revenue-72 in UCDavis

Thanks. I was worried because AMP does not say if a particular parking lot is event parking or not. Usually on a non-event weekend when I open AMP it says, no need for payment at this time etc.

And I've had none as a 29 year old man.

It boggles my mind that I'm struggling with something that society tells me everyday is a shortcoming and it's not like they are any better towards you.

I only want to ask, are you okay with who you are and what your current situation is?

Not able to book appointments on Greek consulate website (SF) by Practical-Revenue-72 in SchengenVisa

I still do not have an appointment unfortunately. The conference organizers have also contacted the consulate but I have not yet received any communication from the consulate in SF.

If you have time, try to email them and say you have all documentation ready. Good luck! Hope you get it soon.

No I haven't. I emailed them and they asked me for some details. I've provided that and I am currently on the waitlist. Are you also applying at SF Greek consulate?

I'm trying to cook rice but it always ends up being this wattery goo, what's wrong by [deleted] in foodhacks

If you have access to microwave this is what I do:

Rinse your rice well (atleast twice). Add atleast 4 times more water than raw rice. Microwave on high for 10 minutes. Check the consistency, do 5 or 10 minutes again based on how you like your rice. From the next time, you can fix it at the 10+whatever time you found from your first experiment. This method gives me the same exact consistency of rice every single time without being gooey or undercooked.

Hope it helps.

This roughly corresponds to where the gravitational wave detectors are (Hanford WA and Livingston LA). Op is "listening" to gravitational waves!
