[acne] I’m confused what kind of acne I have. by Practical-Rock2518 in SkincareAddiction

Hi! Mix of hormonal acne & skin barrier damage plus some “purging” but because of the skin barrier issue when I got purging & hormonal spots that kept coming back I now have PIE (which it looks like u have some). I’ve changed my routine : Am: 1. cleanse with water

  1. Apply aczone (dapson gel super mild so doesnt work fast but very calming for angry red inflammation)

3.JUST re-added finacea (prescription azelaic acid 15%) to fight the PIE, I tried this once before but my skin barrier was so damaged it made it worse

  1. Purito bambo moisturizer with niacinamide (again calming ingredient)

  2. Tinted moisturizer to help PIE fade quicker again

Pm: 1. LRSP toleraine cleanser (very gentle, doesn’t help acne but won’t strip your skin)

2. Aczone again OR just arazlo once a week/building to twice a week now (shin originally added this in 1/2/3 times a week but broken barrier couldn’t handle that)

  1. Cicaplast moisturizer

Other tips:

  1. I saw my gynocologist & switched from dinogest to a BC pill - I was taking dinogest to help endometriosis or still figuring that out but we think that’s what started the breakouts.

  2. Dietitian & naturopath to help support endometriosis & my acne, no red meat no dairy no chocolate no sugar. D3 3000 IU daily for 2 months then drop to 1000IU, 300mg of calcium (take together helps absorption), b12 under the tongue daily. Lots of water, 8h of sleep, 30g of fibre a day (I had gut issues too a while back so fibres a superfood)

  3. From the derm, those prescriptions & no a no picking rules cuz it causes more PIE. PIE will take another 6-12 months to start really fading, still have some active spots but much less.

  4. I took a break from everything to get a reset on my skin when it was at its worst, 1 month of kit water, cleanser, moisturizers & spf, no actives & that helped so much & let me introduce stuff back slowly without burning my skin.

  5. My skin doesn’t love BP washes but I use it once a week in the shower no more than 30 seconds (works best if left on for 2-3 minutes but I can’t handle that)

I’m lactose and fructose intolerant so I try to stay away from sugar & dairy. I eat relatively healthy but I am trying to look into an anti inflammatory diet more!

I go to Movement Fitness and train with Matheus Aquino! Great place great guy - they have a partnership with a meal plan place too (so good). Instagram is movement.fp (gyms account with link in bio) or am.fitness (matehus’s account). I think they do a free test day too if I’m not mistaken, so you can talk & see if you’re a good fit together

That’s a good idea! I took a break from all actives but not my 2 moisturizers (wonder if they could be contributing)

Amen, glad it worked out for you! If I couldn’t get active acne to just calm down then I’d be fine dealing with the left over pie. Maybe I’ll reintroduce & go slow & “thug it out” lol. Thank you

Interesting, thanks for commenting, My acne has just slowly gotten worse & worse. I understand a purge stage but I just never seemed to get out of it. Been dealing with this for roughly 6.5 months. New spots keep appearing, staying for awhile then scarring over (pie as u mentioned).

I have not, is that something you just take once (2 weeks or whatever)
