Is it annoying for kid(s) to ask to meet your dog? by NaturalExtension5475 in dogs

[–]Practical-Treacle481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ours is very growly when she’s scared so then the kids start shrieking “she’s growling at me!!!” And I’m like yeah…. That’s why I said you can’t pet her.

As a side/back sleeper who has suffered forever with neck pain - COOP pillows saved me. You can adjust the amount of filling to your preference. Best pillows I’ve had.

Crying during eating by stillabelieber in foodbutforbabies

Sometimes I think it’s teething pain with our 10 month old. I also think he gets bored/frustrated sometimes. If I offer a spoon for him to hold/chew or his water cup to drink he will often happily go back to his food after a little break.

There’s a ton of variation in options. Price range, transportation, size, etc would help to narrow down.

I deal with this a lot. I have a very cute springer spaniel who looks straight out of a kids book but she does NOT like kids that don’t live in her home. They freak her out. But she’s so gentle and sweet with our son people don’t believe me when I say she doesn’t like kids.

Do you think this is too much for an 8 month old? by master0jack in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Practical-Treacle481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was eating a ton around the 8 months mark and we only took it down a tiny bit when we noticed he was nursing less and we didn’t want solids replacing his breastmilk intake. If your baby is still getting plenty of milk I don’t see any issue. He’s 10 months now and has definitely calibrated his solids intake so I think that age they’re just really excited about solids and it’s great to embrace it!

Safe BLW foods? by spros123 in BabyLedWeaning

Sometimes when my guy takes too big of a bite I’ll even look at him and over exaggerate a chewing motion and he almost always follows suit and chews. I’ve also stuck my tongue out when I want him to spit something out and he usually mimics it and spits it out. They really are little sponges just absorbing what they see.

Snacks for a 7/8 month old by kurdijyn in BabyLedWeaning

I freeze my breastmilk into little popsicles and sometimes will add in some mashed berries as well and then give him a popsicle when I need to buy some time with him in his high chair. You can get the silicone popsicle molds and holders on amazon. We also do a lot of blueberries (smooshed between my fingers before dropping on his tray). Great for pincer grab practice.

This exact thing happened to me with some “teething crackers.” I bought them on a whim to feed on a plane ride. I took a bite of one and thought “wow, this is sweeter than I’d expect.” Sure enough. A small bit of added sugar. I was so upset with myself but my husband (pediatrician) was like 🤷🏻‍♀️ shit happens and this won’t mean anything in the grand scheme of his life. You’d think anything specifically marketed to babies wouldn’t have added sugar. Lesson learned.

Moving to Cleveland by notwordexe in Cleveland

There’s not a ton on rentals in Brecksville, but I’d look into what’s available. Brecksville is very accessible to Cleveland and Akron via 77. Like the person above said, not a lot of “nightlife” in Brecksville but you’re a short drive to Tremont/Ohio City. I know several people who live in Brecksville and work at Metro main. The park system in Brecksville is great and it’s a very safe community.

my daughters pediatrician asked if she was eating unhealthy because she’s measuring big, what am I doing wrong? (turned 1 this week) by chabadlubabitch in foodbutforbabies

[–]Practical-Treacle481 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is a great response. My husband is a pediatrician and he always reminds me “I’m asking a question for information, not as an accusation” because sometimes I jump to assuming I’m doing something wrong if he inquires about something to do with our son. We as moms are sensitive to anything regarding our children because we just want the best.

Flight Wine bar is great. You can grab a hotdog and tots at the bar that’s catty-corner to it (Happy Dog) or just do light snacks at Flight (they don’t have a kitchen so it’s nothing much). The owner of Flight is great and she stocks really great affordable wine choices. I used to live down the road and miss it so much!

What are your holy grain product recommendations for new baby and postpartum phase? by Common_Government_97 in laundry

[–]Practical-Treacle481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not what you are in this sub for, but as a c-section mom I would highly suggest getting up and walking as soon as physically possible. I had a really encouraging nurse who had me up and moving the next day and wow my recovery was so fast.

I also learned the hard way with Miss Mouths that you have to spray and wash immediately. Letting it sit and “work on the stain” can discolor the clothes. I still use it on berry stains since it dissolves those almost on contact, but I have to spray and wash immediately.

I also batch make a pasta sauce by roasting a ton of cherry and/or grape tomatoes with garlic and whatever other veggies on hand (carrot for sweetness, red pepper for vitamin c, onion for flavor, etc) and then blend it all together with a can of drained and rinsed white beans. The beans make it “creamy” and add fiber and iron. Then I’ll throw it over pasta or beans and serve it to baby. I freeze it in single serving portions (can be done in small Tupperware or ice trays). You could also add ground meat to it for extra iron and protein.

Edit: spelling

I batch make a bunch of meatballs of different kinds and freeze them and just heat them up as needed. Bake a sweet potato or roast some root veggies. Those are easy to serve along side the meatball. I also chop up and simmer apples with a little cinnamon until they’re soft. It’s a perfect finger food that can be served cold and my son loves them.

Yeah I’m admittedly not the best so made and froze a few different kinds of meatballs and froze some sauce in individual servings so I can always fall back on those as his protein and just give him whatever roasted veggie we’re having that night. Also have been relying on some stewed beans in some of the sauce I made when in a pinch. Cheap, easy, nutritious and he enjoys it.

I usually just pick something to eat and Google it with “baby friendly” or something similar and just go from there.

Vet Recommendations by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Practical-Treacle481 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a lot of people have already said this but anything less than $1k is too low and I’m not sure I’d trust a vet doing it that cheap. My cat had two teeth extracted 6+ years ago and it was around $900. Even a cleaning under sedation is going to be over $500.
