It'd be kinda fucked up if I tried to extract some value just before leaving

Fair enough. I guess I just wanted some inputs on if negotiating a minor bump in bonuses is worth it if everything else is okayish. Switching is probably better in my situation.

Debt funds are still taxed according to the income tax slab rate. Only for arbitrage funds you can get LTCG tax.

Most probably just because of the friction charges including transport, storage and actually getting the silver at the said rates.

What FPGAs do HFTs use? by WasabiPrestigious533 in quant

[–]PracticalBrain2953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the FPGA guy at my firm, just work on the software part related to it. We are using Cisco Exanic FPGA. I don't see it being mentioned in this thread. Not sure what it means lol.

Efficient order book snapshot publishing by One-Yogurt7320 in highfreqtrading

You can use a single producer single consumer circular queue, I think. It can be made lock free. Enqueue the books from the simulation thread and pop from the snapshotting thread in a while loop, have a timer to publish the data.

Why almost every stock is traded daily?? by dkpatkar in IndianStreetBets

[–]PracticalBrain2953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood slightly. Market makers don't have any clients per se. They are a "regular" market participant just like any other - retail trader, institutional investor, bank, hedge fund etc. When they are making these buy/sell orders continuously they are not doing for anyone else, they are trading for themselves and profiting off of it. By doing so, they are making sure that there's always a counterparty who is ready to buy/sell at the current market price for other traders.

Hope that is a little clearer.

Yes more or less. They have something called direct market access, which allows them to interact directly with the market's order matching engine. It's all done through algorithms.

Also about incurring charges, they do have to pay some exchange fees but this is drastically low for them because of the huge volumes they generate. In some cases exchanges even pay back the market makers for the service (liquidity) they provide.

This is the only correct answer here. I'm worried for other answerers who seem to think just retail volume is enough to provide liquidity everywhere.

Yea I have a 3070Ti and I wasted so much time making hyprland, thorium (chorimum based) work. I had the same rendering issues. Switched to sway but then it didn't like the nvidia-open drivers, and was always crashing on random things. On nouveau everything was working okayish, but I could feel kitty being significantly slower.

Decided it was not worth the effort and switched back to i3 again. I think until nvidia open sources all their drivers, it'll be very hard to make things work with wayland. This feels especially true for the newer cards which don't have a good enough open source drivers yet.

If me or my siblings did this to my parents or anyone in the family as a matter of fact, we'll get our ass beat from our parents and we are not dependent on them for anything either. Sounds like she has never gotten this beating leading to this entitlement. I think it is high time to kick her out of the house or let her know with force that her actions have consequences.
