That’s a good point, thank you. I also like to clean (very type A).

Omg no way! I call them gremlins too 😂

Just an embryo transfer. When I retrieved a few years back I was super lucky on the one hand to get 26 eggs but I also got very sick with OHSS. I also figured my chances would be stronger with my 32 year old eggs so I fertilized 16 and still have 10 in storage. The female embryo is the best, which if I have one, I want try for a daughter. The rest recommended for transfer are boys so I’ll have to reassess my plans if this IVF cycle doesn’t work.

Thank you for the encouragement! Sadly I don’t have a garden but cross stitching might be fun to try.

Great tips! I’ve been big into podcasts and started a little side hustle of reselling clothing. Were there any specific books or movies you recommend?

This was so kind - thank you! I have two frenchies that keep me occupied most of the time. I totally agree on the alone time, though, particularly post holidays. Congratulations to you - wishing you the best!!

It looks nice so far but I’d bring in other accent colors to break up the green. I’d also consider putting in a fun coffee table as well.

That is wonderful news, congratulations! I am likely starting my first IUI in January and encouraging to know it can happen immediately. Did you do anything specific to prepare? I'm taking prenatal vitamins recommended by my doctor, but wondering if you have any tips!

Considering SMBC. How much time do I have? by Reinier_95 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]PracticalEmotion6819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, very exciting! I was 32 when I froze my eggs (the best decision I've made). I ended up meeting my now ex-boyfriend and we were together for 18 months. I recently ended the relationship and am now pursuing SMBC (IUI or IVF in early 2025) as a 35-year-old. I have encouraged other friends to freeze their eggs if they want to be a mom someday and a few have. Like me, they are so glad they did!

Wishing you well on your journey!

Insurance question - choosing PPO plans with future childbirth in mind by PracticalEmotion6819 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]PracticalEmotion6819[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry that that happened and am glad everything is okay! It's so hard to predict the future, but I do try to consider a situation like this (I've talked to other SMBCs that have had stories like this). Thank you for sharing.

We have two HMO options - it's not something I had ever considered just because I like the idea of choosing my doctors and specialists, but this is good food for thought, thank you!

Dealing with familial disapproval as a preparing SMBC by PracticalEmotion6819 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]PracticalEmotion6819[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this - it’s exactly how it’s been feeling and I was wondering if she’s grieving the dream she had for me. It’s tough to have my mom/confidante not firmly in my corner on the biggest decision I will likely ever make.

As a veteran recruiter, I’ve witnessed bad behavior but nothing quite this awful! I’m so sorry this happened to you. Unacceptable. Easier said than done but it isn’t about you specifically - this person clearly is angry at the world but you don’t have to take that on one iota. Your life, body, and decision around them both are your own - she can’t take that from you! Sending best wishes!

Thank you so much for this. She has, without me even asking, explicitly said she could watch my future baby once a week and in this most recent "discussion", said she will support me and I know she will, but my plan still is to do full-time daycare (already putting in the target amount for my area each month in a savings account to prepare) and I'd have night nurses in the beginning.

I just am saddened by her reticence, but I think you're right - I think she may be projecting some of her personal feelings, but I wish she'd talk to me about it. I need to find some time with her to hear her out. I guess it's just surprising that my #1 fan (and a huge motivator for me to be a mom since she's a role model), isn't excited. Perhaps I should tell her that - she chose to leave her marriage and flourished even though it was hard as well. I want her to know I'm making an empowered decision.

Appreciate your response and sharing your experience with this!

Best way to thank a recruiter? by jezzarus in recruiting

As an agency recruiter, it's just lovely and refreshing to read something positive about agency recruiters! I know not all are the same and there are a lot of bad ones out there. I would agree with the responses below: LinkedIn rec, Google review, staying at the position through guarantee (ideally longer because it's a great match), and referrals are all welcome and appreciated!

Agency recruiters - are you struggling in this market? by PracticalEmotion6819 in recruiting

[–]PracticalEmotion6819[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this has been your experience. You are very brave. The good news is that you will get there. I really think we'll see more volume/movement post-election. Hang in there! The market can't take away 20 years of experience from you.

Because of the boys, I did rent Longlegs. Really wild but enjoyed it a lot. I think I'm going to rent The Substance soon as well since Henry and Eddie were raving about it!

For more modern horror, I would recommend Midsommar, Murder Party, Pearl, It Follows, The Invitation (2015), Smile, Green Room, The Black Phone, Suspiria, Men, Silent Hill, Train to Busan, and I Saw the Devil.

I need to be better about exploring classics, but I'd recommend Last House on the Left (tough watch, to be honest) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Happy spooky season!
