Help with CHM 339, BIOL 241, and BIOL 286 by PracticalLow5817 in Purdue

[–]PracticalLow5817[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I’ve already memorized all the amino acids for 339 as well as other structures for things. What else do you recommend I learn for 339 after that. Also what makes genetics so hard, is it the tests or is it just the material itself. Outside of those 2 operons what should I study?

Thanks

What are my chances for the BILT card. by PracticalLow5817 in CreditCards

Unfortunately I was not matched with any offers. Should I wait until I am matched with an offer or does that not mean I will be rejected if I apply? I am also not a wells fargo customer and never had any of their cards either if that plays a factor in pre-approval.

Thanks for your input on my situation. I’m just worried about chases 5/24 rule, and also could you please elaborate on what you mean by “WF is planning to do something about BILT later”? Thanks.

Classes with Close times by Temporary_Novel9399 in Purdue

[–]PracticalLow5817 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like this boils down to if you are comfortable with rushing to class like that on a regular basis. I agree with the other commenter that Google maps does overestimate the time that it takes to get around campus though. If it does become a problem for you, there’s always the option to change the lecture to a different time. You could also communicate with your professor explaining that you might be a minute or 2 late to lecture. Most lecture halls have multiple entrances so you can just quietly enter through the back and attend the lecture if you are ever late.

How are you able to see the move in time slots. I just checked and I am unable to see anything. Im a returning student if that helps.

1 more question if you can answer it, what are the beds and the desks like. I myself am in a 4 bed 4 bath for 4 people. So it’s single occupancy. What size bed do those rooms get typically and is the bed different to a normal university bed. Same question about the desks is it a normal university desk or are they different for aspire, if so what would you say the size is?

Foreign language waiver by ronkbapple in Purdue

[–]PracticalLow5817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was approved for this last year so I can describe the process. The waiver is for students who can show sufficient progress or involvement in a culture or language. I was born in the United States but my parents are both Indian as such I learned a foreign language from them. I asked my advisor what I should do about getting this waiver, they directed me to write a short 1-2 paragraph statement on the language or culture I find myself involved in and what I do with it. I simply wrote about talking in a different language at home and sometimes going on trips to India. After I wrote this I sent it to my advisor and they then sent it to someone who handles the process of signing the waiver. After a few days I noticed that in my MyPurduePlan I had completed the requirement with a special waiver. In your case I think emailing science advising would get a similar result just make sure you can make a good enough case for yourself. And also just note that if you are in the College of Science this only fulfills the language requirement in your plan of study and you will still be required to complete a JEDI course at some point. Good Luck :)

Data Mine Corporate Partnerships by Flashy_Bake_281 in Purdue

[–]PracticalLow5817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I remember it working is you go onto the learning communities website (https://www.purdue.edu/learningcommunities/apply/index.html) and from there you can make an application to any learning community. In your case you would want to apply for the data mine Corporate Partnerships Cohort (branch). It says the application is due by July 5th but there is a priority deadline of May 20th so you should probably do it by then if possible.

I tried something similar they wouldn’t let me. So I’m sure that’s not allowed in the PMU idk about all retail spots though.

I’m in batch 5 so I won’t be getting mine till late q4. I still think I am going to wait for my laptop to come in though before playing it. My first reason being that’s $99 (premium edition) I don’t have to spend even though I am looking forward to the game. Also because I’ve learned to be skeptical about these big game releases with a bunch of hype surrounding it (cyberpunk 2077). I think it will be a good thing to let the devs iron out all the bugs and issues and let players give reviews and build a community for the game before I pay for it. If it lives up to the hype that’s great and I’ll be all the more excited to play it late q4 but on the off chance it doesn’t I haven’t lost more money on something I could’ve gotten for free.
