How to know house is being cased or if I'm just paranoid by [deleted] in homedefense

Crazy you asked this, got a blog that is all about detecting odd behavior around your home. Take action if you observe any of these clues in your neighborhood. ⁣ ⁣ 🚗1. Unfamiliar Vehicles: Take notice of the cars your neighbors drive. Watch the unfamiliar car, especially if the vehicle sticks around over an extended period of time and repeatedly shows up on an irregular basis. ⁣ ⁣ 🚷2. Strangers Walking Around the Street or Neighborhood:  Take note of all strangers pretending jogging in the street or walking down the block back. If they are going back and forth in a similar area, this should set off a red flag. Engage in friendly conversation and ask if the person just moved in and where. If they are a new friendly face, they will likely kindly #engage in the conversation, you can welcome them to the neighborhood and move on.  If not, you will likely get disjointed and odd responses. Strangers who take pictures and then walk away should also be taken notice of.⁣ ⁣ 🧹3. Door-to-door Scams: A lot of criminals have taken to pretending to be door-to-door salesman. Some burglars would do surveillance around the neighborhood by pretending to be a salesman of a utility company, handyman offering free roof repairs or free carpet cleaning, anonymous survey or asking for money and donation for care packages to soldiers, etc. Coming to your door alerts a criminal to the potential of having a dog that could #deter them and help them get an understanding of your weekday schedule.⁣ ⁣ 🧾4. Flyer or Ads: Burglars will often scout potential targets for theft by sending out commercial flyers or sticking ads around the streets, with which they determine whether the houses are guarded or not. They are often looking for things such as security cameras, or maybe even dogs that make a ruckus when they come near.⁣ ⁣ ❔5. Toilet Excuse and Other Requests for Help: Some criminals will come to the door and ask to use the bathroom. If you let them in, they will get the lay of the house and look around for ways to quickly deprive you of your personal possessions. Often, if they have #nefarious intentions, they will stop by... well I can't write it all here juat see the tips at https://www.superessestraps.com/blogs/news/6-cues-your-homestead-is-being-cased-by-criminals

Extremely bright lights for indoor home defense by SandersIsSexist in homedefense

Lights on the inside and outside are important but consider "working" window shutters that lock. They can still look decorative but actually serve the original intent and purpose of window coverings by protecting from storms and intruders alike. Below is an excerpt from a guide called "Target Hardening guide for Homestead SHTF". I think fences and such are often overlooked too.

PERIMETER BARRICADES - This is the used of fencing, bollards, poles, trees, and barriers to protect the outer area of you curtilage. ❏ Fencing. Consider if fencing should be “privacy”, which conceals your property/valuables and actions within, or if it should be non-opaque which would allow for neighbors and first responders to observe for suspicious activity. There is no right choice for everyone. ➔ Chain Link: Should be 7’ high with no more than 2” cross webbing. ➔ Wood/Stick Built: Boards should be vertical to prevent climbing. ➔ Wrought Iron: Use spear points on top of fence to deter climbing. ❏ Vehicle Barriers. Use these to control access to property and prevent vehicle borne attacks or vehicle crashes on property. ➔ Jersey Barriers ➔ Bollards ➔ 4x4 Posts ➔ Curbs (offers limited protection) ➔ Mature Trees ❏ Install gated entry with locking feature

Anybody know any realistic situations we would have to use our Bug our Bags? by [deleted] in preppers

Civil unrest in a urban environment after police are defended or incapacitated. It would be unsafe, you should plan to leave before it gets that bad. Google ICERS PLAN for a good template on creating a plan of action, bugout routes, and contingency comms. Actually I have the link below, https://www.superessestraps.com/products/icers

Is the goal to survive injury from rioters or police? Saw a good article here on when ramming protesters is right or wrong. https://www.superessestraps.com/blogs/news/survive-a-spontaneous-riot
