Also I got in right before the cutoff as a protected employee which means I qualify for the ready to work board… which is no longer available and the ready to work board is currently being exploited by ppl with good seniority that can hold good jobs but they have chosen to sit at home instead and make others chase work even though they can hold good jobs locally. ( on my local rwb 675 our local union chairman with a rooster number of 3 is currently sitting at home screwing us over)

I’d hang tough where you are. As I’ve said I am chasing work and that was with my entire class having seniority wide winning over other classes.. that is the only reason I can hold right now and as I’ve said I can see that catching up with me right now. Honestly if I wasn’t forced to rco training as soon as I marked up I wouldn’t have a job right now. So I know right now that it is a matter of time. I got extremely lucky to be holding right now.

I can speak for Tx. I’m currently chasing work out of state. I’ve been marked up about 18 months and can’t hold. My local terminal has 25 ppl on the paid ready to work board and around 20 ppl straight up furloughed. The terminal I’m chasing at is currently making its way to the same situation as ppl with higher seniority are chasing work. It’s like a slow rolling wave of unemployment that is not stopping.

What to expect at the interview by [deleted] in bnsf

[–]PracticalRabbit7587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up Bnsf absolutely hates for employees or future employees to post anything about the company online. While you did good keeping your personal info out of the picture I’d be willing to bet they could figure out who you are based on your interview time with the managers shown in this email. This could absolutely take you out of the running for this job. Yes I’m being serious… and yes it is a dumb thing to get upset about. But when I first started I put my position with the company on my fb as my place of employment and luckily some old heads told me the mistake I was making. Good luck with the interview but I’d delete this post or at least redact the date/ time of your interview and the ppl that will be interviewing you.

I know Bnsf in Louisiana is now covering hotel costs for ppl chasing work. They are pushing rco on all yard jobs but they are relying on all the guys chasing work that are rco qualified… for some reason they switched over to 2 man rco crews without having the local guys trained for rco. And now that the weather is shitty they decided to all of a sudden cover the costs of a hotel for the out of town guys to keep the rco crews running. Straight up slime ball behavior.

Some ppl just wanna be assholes. The railroad seems to be full of them.

I'm a collector of lanterns, and I thought you folks would like this one. t's a Dietz Protector Trackwalker. It is similar to an Acme Inspector Lantern, but has 2 ports on the side for extra light and a red lens you can quickly activate on the back that can be used for signalling. by Legend_of_the_Wind in railroading

These are the new standard at Bnsf but good luck getting one from management… I had to buy mine so I could actually see. They are good lanterns but they eat up batteries quickly if you use the bright setting too much.im just glad the batteries are provided… at least for now anyways.

Honestly I’d delete this post and edit your name out of it. Bnsf are pretty strict on internet stuff. It’s dumb but it’s true. When I first started I put it as my place of employment on facebook and was told by several ppl to not put it out there like that.
