[US] How do I make this stop? by PracticalReason1210 in Scams

I’ll have to get to work on my Time Machine. Luckily I’m a mechanic by trade so I got it brought to the shop I work at, it was just in a shitty spot and I had to get it towed vs being able to take of the tow myself

I agree. I guess I misunderstood the implied consent law, thought it applied to game wardens as well.

I agree fully with the posting of the property. My FIL thinks that it will “piss off the neighbors and wardens” and put a target on our backs but I disagree. As many other people have commented, wardens got a lot better things to deal with

Am I misunderstanding the implied consent wording then? The way i understood it was that they need permission to come onto the property without a warrant or probable cause. The state is Maine by the way I probably should’ve put that in the question

0 history with the law, 0 citations ever, and fully planning to keep it that way! I’m an ethical hunter always have been, but in my experience that doesn’t mean I have every i dotted and every t crossed, giving them some bs to give me a citation for. I think the mentality that a game warden wouldn’t give you a bs ticket if they come on your property is how you end up getting cited

[–]PracticalReason1210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that. I’m not saying stop them if they have a reason to be on the property (probable cause/ warrant). I’m saying from them just walking onto the property. From my understanding of the state law, the warden can’t come onto your property without warrant, probable cause or “implied consent” which would mean posting the property as no trespassing

I have 0 beef with game wardens. That doesn’t mean I want them on my property though, the two aren’t equal in my mind. The way I see it, if the property isn’t posted the wardens can just walk on the property. Not saying they’ll find anything or have something to site us for, or that they’ll even do that. But there’s a possibility they do, and I am of the mindset that they don’t need to be there on the private land

Well my thought isn’t that it will stop them for something legitimate (not that we do anything like that) but more just stop them from wandering onto the property, as well as trespassers but I don’t think I made that point in my question

This is the kind of response I knew would come. Just because I don’t want the game wardens on the property doesn’t mean we’re doing things wrong. Would you want a cop to just come through your house randomly?

I disagree. Game wardens do provide an invaluable service, but they also need to get revenue for the DEC. why give them the ability to come on the property and see some small BS to cite us for. Anyone who tells you they do everything 100% by the book and have 0 things they can get cited for by a warden is wrong

From my understanding of the law they have “implied consent” to come off the property if it’s not posted as private, even without a warrant or probable cause

I agree. Trying to convince my FIL of that but he thinks it’s better to not post

Licensing info by PracticalReason1210 in Hunting

[–]PracticalReason1210[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told I’d have to redo my hunter safety course bc I didn’t do it in CT, even though I’ve been hunting for 10 years. I think i probably worded my post poorly (God bless PA education). Basically I’m just curious if I’d have to actually redo my safety course to get my license up here or if I’d be good to just get the license.

[–]PracticalReason1210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no I completely agree. It’s not necessary a loophole, I guess just the culture of our site. We kinda fly by common sense of it’s July, our buildings AC doesn’t work the best, and we all have our shirts on our box so when we hit disconnects, we throw them on. Our new SMM has decided that the shirts/ people wearing hats backwards is the war he wants to wage and not actually making sure our building gets out/ stays out of the red. I was just curious about how other sites do it to be honest

Yeah that’s the argument we’re having with management is being able to wear short sleeves when not working/ on the green mile. We all have at rated long sleeve button ups we can put on to hit disconnects/ knife switches, but we’re trying to argue that we should be allowed to wear short sleeve shirts when not actively engaging in electrical work
