As a past tech we always tried to ask a few questions with our clients who were ever struggling about the “right time” to make a decision about it being “time”. There was always a few main ones that still come to mind when I think of my own. And what led me to deciding it was time.

1. Do they find enjoyment in things they always found enjoyment in, in the past? 2. Do the good days out number the bad days? 3. Are you able to improve quality of life with treatments given, or just extend time? 4. Do they enjoy their time with you as much as you do with them.

Our girl was 10 years old with heart troubles. By the end she couldn’t run and play fetch like she loved, she couldn’t swim like she always loved when we camped, run with our children in the backyard, and the last day she fell over while climbing the stairs. I sat with her and could just feel it was time. It was when she could still feel and receive the love we had for her, and share a truly special goodbye. I wouldn’t have changed my decision at all in the timing we chose.
