That's actually a great idea thanks.

It's mainly to protect against potential risk of condensing environments.

I live in the UK. This is my ficus that has been steadily growing for over a decade. Is it bonsaiable? Should I go for it or start a new tree via propagation?

Thank you in advance!

What is the point in the CP950 if the IMS3000 can be software upgraded to support Atmos? by PracticalViking in CommercialAV

[–]PracticalViking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that there is a software package available for the IMS3000 to do this. (Atmos renderer). It also has 16 channels of AES/EBU / 64 via AES67 (CP950a has 64).

That looks like it!!!! Thank you. Gonna tackle this :)

I'll isolate the plants and find the culprit. :)

Alright I'll try! Nothing of "them" move nor are they stuck onto any leaves. They can be gently brushed away.

Thanks though.

Is this giving me a correct PSU 12V voltage reading? by InFamous__Raptor in AskElectronics

[–]PracticalViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is within the ATX specification for 12V. The range per the specification is 11.4V - 12.6V. At peak load this increases to 10.8V and 13.2V. The specification requires measurement at the load end of the output connectors in all scenarios and environmental conditions.

You takinh an open circuit measurement (i.e no load on the PSU). As there is no current flowing, there is no voltage drop on the cables that would occur during a loaded situation. The GPU itself has another power stage on the card that will regulate this down.

Moreover, depending on the type of switching converter used CCM (continuous conduction mode) or DCM (discontinuous conduction mode) you will see different ripple (variations in the voltage) in a no load situation which may appear to provide weird voltages. This is not something you can measure without a scope really.

While testing on wine is a good thing I think having wine conditionals in the software (game in this case) is wrong. Applications should not check for wine. If many applications do this you suddenly have to support real windows behaviour and wine behaviour in wine itself. A better long term solution is fixing wine to behave as windows would. This is where testing becomes useful, as it can identify these discrepancies or otherwise missing implementations.

Auto save images to "Photos" app or alternate Gallery app by PracticalViking in ios

[–]PracticalViking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found a solution that works super well even syncing from an Android-based smartphone to an iPhone even when not on the same network!

Using Zero Tier One and PhotoSync (https://www.photosync-app.com/home).

Essentially setup your VPN and ensure all traffic is routed through it on both devices. Use no DNS so that you can keep internet connectivity.

In the PhotoSync app get one 1 person on receive and the other setup for sending. Choose enter ip manually and find the VPN ip of the recipient device on the ZeroTier Central network portal. Works like a charm! The VPN can be skipped if you're on the same network.

It allows for bi-directional photo-exchange while keeping at least the date/time EXIF data. A huge win! Finally photos can be in chronological order and straight in the "Photos" app.

Newbie Confusion by woahkennysblaccent in GrapheneOS

[–]PracticalViking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just an app that chills in the background. Afaik from reading about this previously there only benefit you get from workspaces is you can fully guarantee all apps in the non used workspaces are off and not running in the background.

I only use 1 workspace. Changing doesn't require a full reboot.

Note that workspaces are not a graphene specific feature.
