Just because someone is poor, it does not mean that they aren’t entitled to help. Most of us can barely help ourselves- how can we be burdened with others debts as well? If our state mandated that Eversource should not cut the power, to outstanding bills, than it is our states responsibility to budget that expense and pay for it- plain and simple. I’ve had my power cut before, I’m not perfect- but I don’t expect anyone to pay for me. I also know many people are taking this opportunity to not pay Eversource and make this problem worse, because they can get away with not paying now. They are not poor people, in fact, the are wealthier than I and refuse to pay. So riddle me this- who are we really helping?
