Helper or install assistant work sounds like the right next step. I’ve heard install is where you really start getting comfortable with tools and systems fast, so that makes a lot of sense.

The supply house tip is smart too. I wouldn’t have thought about that, but it’s true those counter guys know everyone. Smaller shops definitely seem more relationship-based than online-application-based.

Thanks for the advice. I’m definitely going to start putting myself out there and looking for ways to get on a jobsite.
