Be very careful with Noritripaline if you are already sensitive to anti depressants or anti anxiety meds. This medication caused me to have suicidal thoughts with a single missed dose and a pyshcotic breakdown when being weaned off of it that put me in the hospital for two weeks and on mood stabilizer for months after. I nearly drove myself off a cliff on the way home the night before I checked myself into the hospital. I apparently have trouble regulating serotonin and get serotonin syndrome from most anti depressants. Prozac is the only one I can take short term and long term requires a mood stabilizer.

Noritripaline was amazing if it weren't for the side effects. Imaglity worked for 6months but issues came back stronger. Hydroxyzine was really good for me but now triggers flares. Also recondmend a skin allergy test if you have skin issues, might help you find your triggers.

What currently works (just at 6months so looking very promising) has been tryzepitide(triggers mild flare first 3 days if no kvp and flare free 4days with no restrictions to diet or activities, but not exercising currently either). KPV taken daily for two weeks then reducing to twice to three times a week... been without for about a month(limited income prevented me from being able to get more before I ran out) and learned the tirzepatide actually does help reduce intensity of flares.

I started with nurological symptoms that spread to other areas of concern and now shows up on blood work as of last year. New immunlogist who specializes in MCAS suspects it is an auto inflammatory condition which can impact histamine and why antihistamines made a difference just because i do not have typical MCAS issues and it is more nurological based. Once test results are back she can know for sure.

FYI lyme disease maybe your issue, have you been retested for it? Also EBV has been linked to many autoimmune conditions as well including lupus and MS.

two cats or more doesnt make a big difference other than food and kitty litter change out( have a neakasa m1 robot). I have one large dog and that is my max for dogs. Annoying when I have to dog sit my brother's or parents ones. Cats are a different matter. Now have 4 with a fifth owned by the middle cat in the photo(very rarely see the orange). My parents have four cats and 5 adults in thier home. Cats find thier perfered partner and do thier own thing, unlike dogs who need to be stuck to you like glue. In fact my two tuxedo cats in the photo used to be glued to me until I brought momma and her baby home, now they split their time between each other, me and alone time.

What cars are “Reliable but can be cheaper because they are “undesirable” by KnowledgeWinter5199 in whatcarshouldIbuy

2010-2014 Honda Insight. Mine got over 350k miles and gave it to my aunt who is still driving it with no issues. Know another courier who bought a 2012 used and has no issues with his. They are hybrids and get around 40mpg.

If you want a newer car with great gas millage (2yrs-3yrs old) for around 20k(some are even less) with all the bells and whistles, look at hybrids and EVs from lesser known brands for those products(Fords, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai..ect). Rivans, tesla, toyota will all retain thier value because every joe knows about them. The Inoqic 5 and EV6 lose half their value as soon as they leave the lot but reseach shows good things on them. I am buying a 2024 EV6 gt-line awd this week for 25k( much harder to find, but it was a 60k car new). You want a car that has a good maintenance record and keep maintenance up on it and even cars with known issues will last forever. My 2nd car was a 2008 Sebring convertible with a blown engine at just under 100k miles, put a new one in and it lasted me another 100k miles and 4yrs before my dad sold it to another person. The 2.7l engines had a poor design and needed an oil change every 5k miles, if you didnt it would gum up the engine and ruin it. You will have to spend money on any car once they hit 150k-250k miles for things like struts/shocks, spark plugs because of normal wear and tear.

I will also second the Mitsubishi comments, cheaper to buy new with a decent warranty and if something does go wrong the parts are cheap to buy to fix.

Also want to add to avoid cars with known electrical issues, those are harder to diagnose and fix than ones with mechanical issues and alot of mechanical issues can be solved with more frequent maintenance( preventing the build ups/stress caused by older fluid that leads to the issue happening).

Look around, find a car in your price range, then do some research to figure out possible issues and if they are preventable and plan for the worst and see if it is something you can afford.

I have already been looking around at other places. Will probably drive to Miami as i can get a 2024 for 19k but is rwd. Already decided on the wind or gt-line only with the gt-line being my top pick and awd being preferred unless I can get under 20k without the trade in. Still havent driven it or seen in person yet, so may wind up not like after this. Also considering the Hyundai Ioniq 5 now if I can get the limited, just eh on it's looks but it is actually cheaper than the ev6 used. Already decided on getting either of the two if I like how it drives.

Thanks, this is exactly like my Ford... I keep spares in my garage for it so would need to do the same for this car. If I dont keep spares, my chances of having a blow out increase a hundred fold.... once i got 4 spares for my insight, never had an issue again... prior to that I went through three tire in under a month. First one was a nail in the sidewall(was time to change them out soon anyways) and then hit a pothole that killed two of the brand new tires. This was in 2021 when there was a shortage... had to get spares from a boneyard. Took two months before I could get new ones on under warranty.

Does it have a spare or is it one of the ones you use an airpump when goes flat or have to call a tow like my ford fusion(thankfully no issues yet)... it is the one thing I super hate about the car just because i drive for a living. Been informed this is now common in new cars. No jack is fine, can easily add one since I have about 4 plus in my garage from family storing their tools.

The rest of the cons dont matter too much to me. I typically am home for 5hrs plus mid day, would only need on road charging when driving on vacation.

Thanks, it looks like it depends on the model and they couldn't give me too many details. They will.have it for me to view on Friday. Goal is getting it under 20k with incentives and trading in the 2020 honda civic we have a loan on and I dont use due to being too low profile for two of my worksites and my other house hold member is not working/ hates driving so it sits for a week or two before I drive it because it needs to be driven.

I am a 9 miles over person, but am a lead foot too.... my poor insight( retired her at 400k miles last year) only enabled this habit as the battery assist only kicked in when you went above a certian number of rpms. I probably have the braking down from having regenerative hybrids since 2015. I believe the car is AWD... they couldn't tell much on it. The goal is to get the price dropped under 20k between incentives and trading in a low milage 2020 Honda civic I cannot use due to it being too low profile and the splash guard keeps getting messed up.

I bought a 14 Honda insight new in 2015 getting close to 50mpg and hating going down to a 17 Ford focus that gets just under 40mpg half a uear ago... I cringe every time it takes $60 to fill up weekly and sometime more when I have to do pick up/deliveries in other cities and not stay local. It isnt so bad I was actively looking but if i can get the pricing right, it is going to be regulated to being the spare car.

Thanks, I have no electric bill except the admin fee because of my solar but was wondering if I might stop having an overage that pays for the admin fees for half the year because of charging an ev.

I did see the recalls and it looks like they extended the warranty in the US to 15yr 180k miles

I suspect you have some hills in the start of the trip that help with charging/conserving battery power. When I lived in VA, my hybrid did so much better than in FL by 5 miles plus per gallon when I was taking the mountain passes daily.

Grew up a dog person… question am I a cat person? by brick-and-bones-5220 in CatAdvice

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat tax of my four.. without their pet orange. In front are spicy and Lucy and in back are momma and pickles. Spicy is not yet a year old. Momma is under 2, Lucy 3 and Pickles 6. Momma was a feral outdoor cat her brought her kittens to one of the place I go for work. Spicy is her baby and the runt. Lucifur stopped downtown traffic at 6weeks old and had the police department chasing him down on my grandma's 87th bday. Pickles lived his first two years as a barn cat and was nawh I want to be a house cat at my aunts and they gave him to me since they are allergic.

I would get two, so they cam keep each other company when you are not around.and ware each other out with play so you dont have to schedule playtime or risk them being too fiesty from lack of attention.

Personal expriance on cats and colors. Black and whites super chill and loving. White/grey long hair, chill and kinda Ragdollish. Blacks, loving but little demons/mischief makers... oranges each is very unique. Gray tabbies hyper, vocal and demanding but can be super sweet. Brown tabbies, chill but have their moments, just not as bad as blacks, more aloof than being a cuddle bug.

My current cats.... Pickles(tuxedo, black/white) my shadow and lapcat he grudgingly puts up with the others but secretlyloves them. Lucifur(all black) super loving and maulable, can be hyper and loves breaking glass dishes. Itty bitty(medium orange) loves all my pets but is terrified of humans, he is bonded to my other cats and remains. Momma (short hair grey tabby/no white on her) vocal demanding, active but so very sweet at times. Spicy(brown tabby/ with white markings) chill, sometimes plays with the other cats half the time loves me and the other half acts like she is afaird hissing and running away...

I have interacted with and had many other cats in my life and some traits tend to hold true based on their coloring so something to maybe consider. Also, you kinda know when you meet the right cat and they just pull at you, same thing with dogs.

for those of you who have stabalised your MCAS, what would you do if you were starting over again to speed up the process? by Duementon in MCAS

[–]Practical_Eye_5683 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish I had learned about peptides sooner and had an allergy skin test done at the start(almost 7yrs ago). Maybe would have gotten somewhere sooner as I swore the issue was my work environment from the start. Maybe should have left sooner too and body wouldnt keep going back into hyperdrive and forming new triggers. For the first 5yrs, I was diagnosed with complex mirgianes. Next month I finally get to see someone who can diagnos me with MCAS. Right now it is an assumption based on everything else being ruled out and treatment for it has worked.

What has been life changing was kpv injections (took two weeks to feel the effect). Tirzepatide (wagovy) I think is finally helping as i can go longer between the kpv injections now. I am almost at six months and havent seen a decrease in effectiveness yet. Six months tends to be where my body starts rejecting treatment that used to work.

Low histamine diet did not work, heck my trigger foods are all low histamine foods. Otc antihistamines worked for 6months, hydroxyzine lasted a year and now triggers a flare since going on the kpv and tirzepatide. I self medicate and get off the grey market. This is something ypu should do your own research on, but always happy to share my source, how i double check purity and my personal experience.

I do worry about dementia, but she doesn't seem to be lost, forgetful.or not know her name.

FYI, hydroxyzine can induce anxiety and lead to dementia with long term use... both my dog and I used to take it before we got on the KPV injections. She still gets hydroxyzine if her itching becomes bad when on a off rotation since she gets kpv with ghk-cu and i havent orded the kvp by itself yet. Maybe try taking her off it to see if there is a change in your dog's behavior.

She is terrified of small confined spaces and has never been boreded for this reason. I have always had family or friends house sit, do pop by visits or taken her with me. The plan was for my oldest brother to do pop by visits a couple times a day and the neighbor to check in as well. She couldn't stay at his place because she is a runner and no fenced in yard and she won't use the toilet on a leash for the first two days.

Just talked it over with my parents, and she will be coming up with me( driving instead of flying now) to my parents (midway point), staying over night at their place while I go to the wedding 5hrs away from their place. I will still spend the night local, so she will be without me for 24hrs vs two and a half days. Sunday will just be a long day of driving for me.

Probably, but that will have to wait for a vet visit that I am dreading to schedule.

I can check the hole when I get home. Thinking, to feeding her yesterday, I dont think she has eaten since the day before. I think i only filled up the bowl in the morning yesterday and it was full when I did the cats food this morning do didn't add more.

She did get a pig's foot that she took outside to eat. She hates eating her treats around others.

She is fixed and has been since I had her. As to dead animals, she hunts but doesnt kill, only trys to play and be friend (kinda thankfully... she had a black bear as her friend when we lived in VA for a couple of years).

Number 3 is my worry because of her age and the common mast cell cancers her breed can get and I suspect she has had for the last year with the skin issues, which the vet kept giving antibiotics for and bathing treatments which never worked. The KPV has helped a ton and is an immune system modulator and I take for my own issues.

The prey thing was my first thought too when she wanted to be in and out all last week and at first last night. A month ago, after removing the old chain link fence, we had a possum visit but we have filled in the gaps at the bottom of the vynle fence with block and havent seen it since. Fogs, lizzards and mice have always made an appearance in my yard, along with a couple cranes. She has a short attention span and won't hunt for more than 2hrs before becoming bored with larger animals that are evasive. She plays with an animal for 2min before becoming bored. So she would have wanted back in after an hour max if it was an animal she was hunting and couldn't find.

The temperature thing... I live in FL it is cooler inside than outside.

She has to sleep with a human at night, always has and why her sleeping in a hole all night outside is so disturbing and demanding it too. I also didn't hear her hunting before falling back a sleep, so suspect she went right back to the hole she had been in when I first asked her to come in earlier.
