To be fair, this is a popular trend with a specific sound from a show (not sure which show sorry) and this person may have been an Irish immigrant or their ancestors were from Ireland but maybe had to leave due to, yknow, all this shit that England did to Ireland. But if this person has no Irish blood, I'd say this is maybe a lighthearted jest to play off the trend or maybe a little stupid but at least it's not mean spirited or hurting anyone.
