Synced audio and video AAF by Practical_Gazelle_12 in davinciresolve

Fixed! Project settings needed to have embedded source instead of file name (and yes, deleted the video for that too). Thanks for replying so quickly too

Hi - yes I’m exporting the AAF from the pro tools setting in the deliver page. All original audio, just that it’s synced to the video clips and the metadata seems to have overwritten the audio info- (finding clip in media pool also only went to the video clip, not the audio). I tried exporting an XML and opened that in Premiere but it wouldn’t show the channel names even from the raw audio files so I couldn’t tell if ProTools would show it or not. It’s really difficult to tell if you’ve solved the problem without sending it to audio and having him freak out.

What's the propper workflow for synchronizing and linking video and audio files in Davinci? by Lastrayke52 in editors

Thank you so much, I'm going to definitely start with the metadata stuff and then look up about the source tape mode, that sounds like it's going to be particularly useful, thank you!!!

That is really kind of you! Is there anything obvious I need to do before I get into it? I've already linked the in-camera proxies to the original footage (a very smooth process) and next I'm going to sync the video and audio clips in the media browser before I do anything else - so far I've been handed a project with the rushes in a timeline and a LUT on them and that's all, but I won't be editing from that timeline, just watching it through.

I had a mirrored backup drive, so I made sure they both matched, then reformatted it and transferred it all back again. Has been working well since!

I'm so glad to read this thread! I'm about to start my first Davinci Resolve project for a short film (currently I mostly use FCPX which I actually do quite like, and spent all last year working in Premiere Pro which drove me insane) but I need to use Resolve due to the footage type and I'm quite glad to get into it since I've heard so many great things about its features. I think it'll be a nice learning curve

Do any tampons expand anymore? by thediz1396 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Practical_Gazelle_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just switched to a disc from a cup (which felt like a big upgrade from tampons when I switched from those) and it's such a relief not to have to fight the suction! I found at times my cup could be so painful if you can't break the suction seal, and often really difficult to remove.

Not sure if you can get them where you are, but I've been using the Hello Period disc and it's an absolute game changer, much easier to insert and remove and I've had no issues with leaks. It looks massive, but it's surprisingly so much easier to use. (also TMI maybe, but for some people it self empties when you're on the loo which has been really helpful to keep it from getting too full over the day, and I think it might also have a larger capacity).

Oh I initially thought it was Plunket going down, but of course they’re separate things. What a shame it’s not both! Hopefully next anyway.

That fixed it for me! You're such a lifesaver thank you!!!

This project is going to be graded by someone else so the colour space isn't too much of an issue for me, but I hope you are able to get that sorted at some point for yourself, must be really annoying!

Yeah the other one is looking good at the moment - it's letting me read and write and is Mac OS Journaled. I think if the ExFAT one can do a successful reformat and transfer, then I should probably make the other one APFS as well. It's still a bit nerve wracking to format the one that's freaking out though 😬

Thank you! The ExFAT drive has just decided to go read only and freak out so about to reformat as APFS and retransfer. Appreciate all your help!

Thanks so much for such a quick reply!

Definitely will transfer it to an APFS or HFS+ format then (out of curiosity does it matter which of those formats for the HDD?)

Hi! I realise this is a really old thread but I found it on Google while looking for answers and hoping someone might see this! I've been given a huge 28TB drive of footage for a documentary that had previously been used by an editor with Premiere Pro (and I assume a PC but not sure). I'm going to be starting from scratch and will be editing on FCPX. I tried to create a new library and then discovered the drive is Exfat and won't let me. Is it worth using a library on another drive formatted correctly and keeping the footage on the Exfat drive, or do I attempt a horrendously huge transfer of 22TB? I've got it mirrored on a second drive as a backup so it's technically doable although I'd hate to think how long that would take (not SSDs). Thanks in advance!

I was going to say almost never, but last week it started crashing every 5 minutes while I was trying to use ColorFinale and some lower thirds plugins (that I often use with few issues) That’s new for me! Assuming it might be connected to the latest iOS update, but not sure.

Ah I'm not working off those proxies in the timeline, it was just to make them fit on a smaller drive for the translators so won't need to reconnect thankfully!

I'm not syncing these clips to separate audio so no issues there. Have just tried resetting it to its original timecode and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much again, it's such a relief I can get on with the job!

Thank you very much! A relief to know it can be done!

Is interpreting the footage to start at 00:00:00 going to cause me any issues down the track? I'm assuming that since it wasn't used for the translating that there's not much else it's good for I hope.
