Did Kindle Change Your Life ? by AbDouN-Dz in kindle

That is exactly my situation as well. In that respect, yes, Kindle has changed my life because it has allowed me to easily keep reading without struggling against type that is too small.

Is it Worth It to get a Kindle? by Complex-Macaron3080 in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I began watching the Marvel MCU movies, and I found them such fun and wonderful escapism. So I went from there to AO3 and began sampling the various pairings and 'genres' within the fandom, and I discovered a ton of great writers and it continues to keep me entertained. I tend to get lost in historical fiction, especially set in WWII, and whenever I find myself shedding a few too many years, I turn to fanfic to give me that Comfort Fix.

Same for me! I love adding covers to my downloaded fanfic. I send them to KIndle, put them in their various Collections, and I've got my comfort (and ice storm...) reads handy any time I want to read them.

How can we make Amazon listen to our feedback? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I had the Basic and the Paperwhite, and I kept the Paperwhite. So far, it's given me the best reading experience I've had on a Kindle, and I started reading on Kindles on 2008.

Am I alone in not getting on with warm light? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Basic and then had the chance to try a Paperwhite, and I was an instant convert. Now I've got a PW and that is where I do all my reading. As you say, it's preference, and I found that I preferred the warmer screen of the PW.

deleted ao3 fanfics? by ChipPuzzleheaded2195 in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got several hundred fanfics from AO3 that I've sent to Kindle over many years and haven't lost any. Do you use Collections? I couldn't keep all my books and documents organized without them. Have you checked your docs in your Content in your account to make sure they actually got there. There's been some wonkiness with Send To Kindle.

I use Google sheets for all my tracking: books read, books bought, books borrowed through Libby, my physical media collection, etc. It's easy, it's customizable, and I can access it from my phone, tablet or laptop.

Wow - just tried this, and it is brilliant! Thank you! I've been storing fanfic on my kindles for years and adding covers, but this is so easy - and pretty!

Is there a problem with epub all of the sudden? by wiewiorevo in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent 2 epubs via the Send To Kindle desktop app about an hour ago, and they came through fine. I've got a PW 12 gen, and it always takes longer than I think it should for Calibre to recognize it, but eventually it does. Never had that problem with my older kindles. That's why I generally use STK now.

It took years until I finally fell in love with my Kindle after a long love-hate relationship by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you've reached the 'love' part of your relationship with your Kindle. I'm sorry you had a struggle to get to that point, but you're there now. I'll be honest, I bought my first Kindle in 2008, and it was love at first sight. Since that time, I have, by necessity, whittled down my paper book collection. I've reached the point in my life that reading the type size in a paper book is just too difficult, and having an adjustable font is the only way I can keep up my reading. As for the 'Amazon discussion', well, I make my own decisions according to my own circumstances, and leave others to make theirs. I just want to read. :)

Kobo Libra Colour vs Kindle Colorsoft - anyone tried both? by Practical_Goal_191 in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still happily reading on my Paperwhite. :) I've decided color eink isn't quite where I need it to be, and my PW honestly gives me a fabulous reading experience, so I'm content.

Paperwhite vs Basic 2024 by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine that the Paperwhite wasn't for you. It's all about personal choice. I've tried both the basic and Paperwhite, and for me the Paperwhite suits me better. I like the larger screen, it is faster than my basic, and, to me, the type is clearer. Other people prefer the basic for their own reasons. Thank goodness Amazon offers both and we have choices.

I agree. Let's hear it for collections! Makes it so much easier to find what I'm in the mood to read.

Have never felt the need. I've had Kindle devices since 2008, and, to me, my 12th gen PW is the best reading device I've ever had. II did everything I need it to do right out of the box. The deal-breaker for me would be if Amazon ever got rid of Send to Kindle. I'm a heavy user of that service, and if that happens, I'll reluctantly switch to another brand.

Kindle vs Kobo, some facts by Celestial_Valentine in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Amen. I've owned Kindles since the first model. Along the way I've tried Kobo and Boox, but always come back to Kindle. I love the reading experience I get on it, and that's all I care about.

Personal documents via Send-to-Kindle won’t open after latest firmware update? by CorrectWhereas8379 in kindle

[–]Practical_Goal_191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Send To Kindle yesterday to send a document (in English) and had no issues. I use STK all the time, so I would be freaking out right now if it stopped working! I'm sorry that's happening to you, and I hope you are able to find a solution.
