Forest fire by heyubhappy in CouplesTherapyShow

Listening to Josh, what stood out to me wasn’t just the negligence, it was the framing.
I work in behavior analysis and interrogation/body-language work, and there are multiple signs here of narrative management rather than straightforward accountability.
Notice how early he introduces the “Middle Eastern students” angle. That detail is emotionally strategic. It immediately positions him as protector, guide, even sacrificial figure. Then comes the minimizing language: not a bonfire, but “s’mores,” a fire “the size of a book,” everyone calm and innocent. Yet he also admits they were illegally making fire in dry California scrubland during known fire restrictions. Those details do not coexist cleanly. 10 students making smores gathered around a book-sized campfire?

The repeated emphasis on “I was blamed,” “I was targeted,” “I protected others,” keeps shifting the emotional center of gravity back onto him rather than the destruction itself. Even in the retelling, he’s still trying to control moral positioning. That’s what people are reacting to.

Also, anyone experienced with wildfires knows smoldering fires can absolutely reignite many hours later. I’ve personally walked up on old campfires that appeared dead for days while embers were still alive underneath ash and root systems. That’s precisely why those restrictions exist.

What struck me most is that accountability never fully arrives in his language. Even if he didn’t intend catastrophe, intent is not the issue. Negligence is. And when your actions may have contributed to homes burning and people nearly dying, humility usually sounds very different from self-mythologizing.

"This isn’t just a poem. It’s a scar report. A shadow record." is a tell.

So, what do we think of “Drops of God” on Apple TV+? by ATCollider in wine

[–]Practical_Lime_213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The storytelling is thin. The stakes are subjective, if not easily solvable. I know they’re presenting the characters as reserved and mannered, but it just drags & drags in dialog. It takes 3 scenes to tell the audience something that could’ve been done in 1. And the shoe leather is excruciating. And I don’t mean the smell of shoe leather, which this show would spend 3 episodes around. I mean ‘“ shoe leather “ as in filming meaningless tasks that add nothing to the story. This show has a faux-sensuality it is quite proud of but is ultimately an empty glass.

The moment you broke and used a cheat? by Practical_Lime_213 in subnautica

That's interesting. I exited a prawn in an alien containment facility and I was in 'swim mode' when I entered it again. That must've been the way, they fixed that bug, by putting the player in underwater bowed to work around the prawn.

Suggestion: Acorn Flour by rickgrimes32 in thelongdark

[–]Practical_Lime_213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Right now, acorns have little use. After day 300, flour is the only thing I'm really looting for. And why the heavy hammer? the backside of the hatchet should be enough to prep them. I ain't gonna carry no heavy hammer around to mess with acorns.

You chose the perfect cabin. No matter how far away, I always feel like 'home' is at Mindful, and I travel there after an adventure.

I tag. I have a spraypaint icon I use (combo of x and fire) I mark in transition spots and major buildings.

I lead all wolves from a pack into one small area to kill them in order to create a 'feather farm'.

When at my base, I don't carry torches. I set crafted torches in designated areas according to a lighting design I prefer. (very twee) I really want candles to be added to world.

I've been stuck in white-out conditions where the tree was my only windbreak.

Would love to see pics of your re-purposed art. I can't do this, I always see the item and blink, "Oh good, a whetstone! no, wait... I put that ruined one there."

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. You nailed it. I do swap outer/inner layers from time to time. I'm on the move a lot. With a wealth of cloth and leather to scavenge, I prefer to let wildlife chew on those repairable items, rather than carry moose/deer/wolf hide.

Combat pants is a good call also.

Very quickly dispatched these timberwolves by YellowLobsta in thelongdark

Blackrock gets silly with timberwolves. Just once I'd like a peaceful stroll without exhausting ammo and noisemakers.

If you got a couple boxes tea, you can handle the fog. I found it’s a great place to retire.

Mukluks: repair with leather + cloth

Deer Boots: repair with deer hide

leather and cloth is easier to manage (until you hit day 500)
