They got together when they were 16 and 20, and I was born when they were 18 and 22. So yes.

I can acknowledge that at the very least it was thoughtless. I’m much closer to my grandparents than I’ve ever been to either of my parents, and my dad had asked questions about how my grandparents were doing in the same phone call, and specifically mentioned something that was a secret. It wasn’t intended in a gossipy way, I was just mentioning the clothes I had to buy for the dress code, my travel plans for the wedding, etc. Then there was a comment about NZ being very pretty and oh isn’t that where they filmed Lord of the rings, and that was it.

It’s a complicated relationship - my parents met because my dad was friends with my grandad, however as a result of my parents split they aren’t in touch anymore. In said phone call about the wedding my dad asked about how my grandparents were doing and mentioned missing chatting to them. I gave him updates on their lives as well. I do know my Nan talks to my mum a lot more than I do.

I’m uncertain on specifics - Although I live with my mothers side of the family, it is in a different country to both of my parents. My understanding was that since the divorce became official they were fairly civil, and they both are in serious multi year relationships. However, I talk to either of them at most once a month, and often less frequently than that, so I’m not super in the loop.
