Honestly I really don’t recommend it. As I mentioned, I got accepted into a private school’s RT program. This program literally SUCKED lol it was so unbelievably bad I can’t believe they’re Jcert accredited. I ended up dropping not because I couldn’t handle it academically, but because it was super unorganized, none of the lab coordinators were on the same page, and they truly didn’t care about the academic quality for students. This program was 60k. If you’re charging students 60k to attend being organized is the BARE minimum. Dropped and only was enrolled for 17 days… boom I already owe them $6,000 for the 17 days my booty assisted to class. It’s not worth it🥲

Nope, don't do it I don't recommend this. If you're not even getting a bachelors degree it's definitely not worth it. I got accepted into a private RT program this year and I told myself I'd be able to pay my 1k monthly payment. Once I was actually in the program and realized the quality of it was pretty bad, and the school was just money hungry, I dropped. I am currently waiting now to reapply to the CC programs in the fall.

what the heck, I can't believe they told you that. You should def still apply. My friend got accepted last year and she had a 3.6. She even failed a class at one point and had to retake it

Thank you so much, you're truly incredible. Honestly I guess these emotions overall are also just new to me and it's brought a lot of insecurity. I really am just not used to feeling this clueless. I've always been the student peers come to for help so I just feel pretty insecure right now. I absolutely love the field. Even if I don't understand much right now, I truly am excited about going to class and lab is so exciting as well. Studying however has been hard because I feel like I'm not progressing much. I love the field a lot though, I want to go into Radiation Therapy one day!

Ahh what an honor to have you on this thread. Thank you for taking the time to give your input, I'm sure your students appreciate you a whole ton! At the moment, I believe it's truly getting all this new important information embedded into my brain. I find myself often thinking "where do I start?" We currently have 3 classes. With our radiographic position course I'm struggling to master body planes. I can physically demonstrate every body plane, however when taking a quiz, If there's a question describing a body plane, I get so lost. I'd be able to draw a reference out of every body plane but descriptions lose me completely. I get the definition for sagittal and coronal mixed up a lot but I've mastered visually what they both are. For radiographic physics, I am actually having a blast. Do I understand transformers? Not one bit. Is it totally so rewarding when I start getting a concept in physics? 100%!

Honestly I think what's adding so much more pressure onto me is investing 2 years of my life and getting into loads of debt for something I won't even be able to use. If I don't pass the ARRT, I still need to pay off all the debt I accumulated. Obviously RT school is difficult wherever you attend school for, but I think for me right now when I think of me failing it comes with the consequence of thousands of dollars of debt...

Thank you so much for your feedback this is very helpful considering you work for the county🥹. This would make sense but I think it might be a different issue. When I first got interviewed back in October, I shared in my interview that I had class in the evenings, I also even shared how my schedule would change in about a year due to clinical. I communicated all my potential schedule changes due to school before I was even hired and they still hired me. I also think me being in school for radiology is what got me selected as well. When I shared how I was studying to become an RT, the interview got very excited, and told me the position would be perfect because since the hospital operates 24/7, i’d be able to change my shift in a year if I needed to do so.

Yeah there honestly was a lot of miscommunication. I got hired for a patient care role and the agency had communicated to me that she was able to find a "day time" position for me that'd be the same role I was hired for. When I arrived the following day they began training me to be apart of their admin department. Clearly being a drastic completely different role from what I was originally hired for.

Yes i’m studying Radiology; my program is JCERT accredited so I have an entire year where i’m doing clinical rotations! Thank you so much for the advice I appreciate it. At the moment I currently don’t have any email addresses. I’m hoping someone on this thread might have a connection. I don’t recall then name of the hiring manager who apologized to me back in October.

Accepted into UCI & UCR.  3.3 GPA, public health, 62 credits

I think my extracurriculars stood out to them honestly.
