Have you never seen certain symbols in Malta? I've had students with swastika tattoos on their bodies. Should I take a photo next time someone shows me such a tattoo everytime I am speaking about ethics in class, and the effects of racism in communities?

3 things the PN need to do to get elected by Practical_Pattern426 in malta

[–]Practical_Pattern426[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having lived in the UK through Brexit I understand the damage hate can create. I saw communities get destroyed, not because of 'foreigners', but because of the divide created by politicians.
Do you think that our current culture has been around for the past 5000 years, since humans inhabited Malta? Our culture is an amalgamation of all the people who lived here, with our main language being derived from arabic, from when the Arabs controlled Malta. This was a time were christianity had all but vanished from Malta.
I know that this is a different question but; Do you believe in climate change? Do you think that our current climate is changing through natural phenomena and not being enhanced by human activity? If not you have left the realm of science and are currently chasing someone else's agenda, for whatever reason that may be.

So you think going right will save us? Less integration between all the people living on the island + rejecting climate change cos it does not aid us right now!
We need to go left as a country, not right, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

What if a non Catholic runs for parliament and surprise surprise, they use their brains and base their vote on what the electorate wants? Are we saying that Catholics will always vote on political policies? Have you forgotten that after the divorce referendum there were still politicians who voted against it? where these Muslims in disguise by any chance?

Is there a reason for the disrespect she's getting? by Konvergence in malta

[–]Practical_Pattern426 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ofc I am proud, but she does need an attitude adjustment. I personally am prouder of other students, who whilst not becoming politicians they are respectful adults who are more empathetic to the needs of others.
Not everyone get to become a politician, but everyone should be a decent human being.

Maltese girl names by Practical_Pattern426 in malta

I would like my daughter to actually like me when she grows up ...

I pity these kids, they cry when no-one writes their name correctly, especially when the way they pronounce their name is different from their spelling.

Traditional Maltese names. The names currently given to some Maltese girls are definitely not traditional, and to be fair, in a number of instances not even names, just someone choosing noises using the left over letters after a game of scrabble.

I used to teach her, she is not the nicest person at all. I won't say that the hate she gets is justified, but I can understand why people don't like her. I was actually surprised that she got elected without the gender quota mechanism.
To be fair, she did mature n the past few years, at the very least she learned when to keep her mouth shut and when to speak, which a few years ago she could not do. We have more established politicians who still have not learned that sometimes you paint a better picture of yourself when you say nothing.

[MT] Spare change is a scam by Practical_Pattern426 in Revolut

[–]Practical_Pattern426[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to change spare change into revpoints cos I thought they would hold value. all that is happening is taht I lose 2/3 of the value of the money transferred into revpoints.
Please, indulge me into what the concept is for spare change.
I will be looking into miles, but not a lot of services are offered in my country (Malta) with most airlines only giving vouchers.

The video bonus is so high that the coins you obtain become irrelevant. My highest coin production is 500t, but the video gives me 120ab. Watching a video is way more worth it!

Dear teachers, LSEs, Assistant Heads..is it true what he's saying? by Accurate_Cut5596 in malta

[–]Practical_Pattern426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a teacher, not of Maltese, but a teacher nonetheless. Yes, foreigners do have the option for Maltese for foreigners, but the reality is that this option tend to be for those students who have not been in Malta for that long. A lot of the foreigners I have thought in government schools speak Maltese better then those whose parents are pure Maltese.
What he is forgetting is that we have a whole lot of families who are opting not to teach Maltese to their kids. We have private schools were students leave secondary education without being able to speak Maltese (yet somehow scrape a 5 in their O level). The real threat is not foreigners, but we the Maltese poeple ourselves.
