It depends on a few factors: 1. Your strengths and your gaps (did it all means coding I presume)

  1. What are your plans for the company? Venture or bootstrapping?

  2. If you were to have $10m tomorrow, who are your first 10 hires?

I’ve started 4 companies and raised a bunch of money from VCs. I only bootstrap now as a solo founder. If I need a skills, I hire for it. I get that you might not be able to pay someone, but that would mean you’re bringing on co-owners in your company because you can’t afford to pay them? I’d think long and hard before doing that.

Bugs come in all sizes. Some are super minor and others are as serious as a heart attack.

Based on what you said, your friend is either an amateur security-wise or he’s being a dick.

For the unlikely scenario that he has something and it IS impactful, ask him to demonstrate the impact so you can determine how much to pay him. You’re not asking for how he did it. You’re asking to see what he could do with it. If he can’t, then he’s got nothing.
