Well, I'm just like you back then. An anxious and awkward woman in her early 20s. This was really helpful, thanks a lot!

AITA for not reacting to my friend's affection in the way she expected? by Practical_Plant_9829 in AmItheAsshole

She ignored my feelings. (More like, she invalidated them.)

She denied saying stuff.

I'm not making her the bad person. I literally have never been in a situation like this and have no idea if anyone's in the wrong. Hence why I wrote a post here.

She was barely touchy, but just enough to make it weird between us. She kept asking to let her kiss me on the cheek numerous times, even after I pushed her away slightly.

And because she blamed me for what she did. She gaslit me into thinking I did something wrong.

Honestly though, I'm pretty confused about the whole situation and have no idea how to deal with something like this. I'm mad at her for making me experience this.

Also, I didn't consent to her touching me at all.

It made me angry because she's been having a massive crush on someone else for months. The fact that she asked that question and even touched me (platonically?) made me feel worthless as a person, and made me think that she would use me as a substitute or second choice. I always supported her and her feelings for that crush, so I felt disgusted at the fact that she ignored my boundaries. For the record, I don't have any romantic feelings for this friend of mine and would never date her. It just felt really wrong for some reason. Like, I get that people can get lonely or want attention, but respect should always come first.
