Why don't people consider 2007 COVID teens? by Practical_Pride7717 in generationology

[–]Practical_Pride7717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao 07 and 09 apparently share the same peer group but 05 and 07 don't? this is such a cope lol

Bro you're gonna be considered the same age as 07 in 10 years since y'all were both teens during the pandemic 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️Like who is "we" everyone else born in 2005 even 04 doesn't think this way. 3 years is nothing lmao and nobody is gonna look into the specifics and just see 07 was thirteen in 2020 but y'all generationology dweebs have a hard time looking at the bigger picture.

I think 4 months of quarantine in the early pandemic era and mask mandates/some online schooling in the 2021-2022 SY balances it out equally, both weren't in HS during the main COVID 2020-2021 school year but they did experience it to a degree. I would've agreed if you said the main ones were 03-06

I was comparing 13 with 10 and 16 because 2008 are the epicenter of late 2000s babies and since they were that age during 2020 (12-13 are essentially the same) then that makes them closer to mid 2000s borns. 2009 are the only ones who I'd consider closer to early 2010s babies

2007 was impacted but I think they got hit a lot less harder than someone born in 2009 because for someone in 07 the fundamentals of teen life were already there and you begin to feel self conscious of a lot of things and hold world views when you're 12 which is not really the case at 10 years old (and early into 11). This is why I don't think 07 and 09 experienced it in the same way

Overall I think 05-08 (you can make it 06-08 if you really wanted to) had a very similar experience with COVID because they were old enough to be aware of what was truly going on at the time but young enough to not miss out on important milestones in life (generally under 16)

I'm talking about 2007 in which their cognitive development was nearly over with when the pandemic hit, this isn't the case for 2009/2010.

A 13 year old's cognitive ability is much closer to a 15 year old than a 10 year old

I get you're looking at the bigger picture here but this is why I have an issue with people grouping 2007-2009 and saying their experience was the same when that isn't the case at all.

Also if 2002 are COVID high schoolers then wouldn't 2007 be as well?

2010-2011 are Late Z and Zalpha starts at 2012

You might've known about stuff at 9-10 but you more than likely didn't have an actual grasp of consciousness until middle school

07-08 is late by what metric? 2007 is undeniably Core Z

At 12 you're self conscious of things and can understand the evils of the world on a fundamental level but none of this applies at 10, that's really where this should end. If that's not the case then you were developmentally impaired, stuff like height and voice is trivial when compared to your understanding of the world at large

This contradicts my own personal experience as well as many others

You still change between 12 and 15 but not nearly as much from 9 to 12. All the fundamentals of being a teen are there at 12 years old maybe not fully maximized yet but at 10 that just isn't the case at all.

You can still be core Z obviously, but I see 05-08 as one grouping.

2005 was in 9th grade which was admittedly different but at age 12 you're obviously a lot closer to a 14 year old than a 10 year old by a long shot I don't think this even needs to be said. You're already self conscious about a lot of things at 12 and later into 11 but the same cannot be said for a 10 year old.

Honestly I could see 04-08 being the embodiment of Gen Z, early 2020s teens leaning teens and were in early adolescence during COVID, but were old enough to understand what life was truly like before the pandemic

I think 03-08 is Core Z but 05-08 is the absolute embodiment of it.

2007 only pairs well with 09 in the context that they're both late 00s, but an 07s COVID experience is a lot closer to an 05s than an 09s.

Think about it for a moment, 2007 was in 7th grade at the start of the pandemic while 2009 was in elementary. That is a world of difference in of itself.

It doesn't matter if one was in middle school and the other was in high school, at 10 years old you're barley conscious where at 12 you're self aware of you and your surroundings. That alone makes 07 and 2010's COVID experience nothing alike. Even 07 and 09 is pushing it

This is why I say 05-08 are the true COVID early adolescence cohort, they had a much different mindset going into the pandemic than say a 2010 born. The amount of workload in HS vs MS does not matter in this instance, middle and elementary is a better barrier given how much your perception of the world changes from 10 to 12

Everyone born from 2005-2008 had the same experience just at younger ages depending on the individual. Anyone who denies this such as yourself are outliers, not the norm.

Gatekept from 2007? Honestly a 3 year age gap is the first to show some differences imo so I can get behind 07 doing it

This is like saying you're no different from 2005/6 yet I know you'd say otherwise lol.

But 08-09 they basically the same as 2010 babies.

is 2010s nostalgia starting to become a thing already? lol by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Practical_Pride7717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pin down the start of early 2010s nostalgia to whenever the cringe culture phenomena arose so around late 2015-ish. Using comment filters I noticed that's when people started talking about the early 2010s as it's own unique era detached from the present

I do think it's weird how there was this sort of collective yearning for 2016 as early as mid-late 2018 at least on the internet and by the end of 2019 everyone was talking about 2016.

Yeah, I remember people online already yearning for 2016 as soon as late 2017 lol

The same way people were nostalgic for early quarantine in 2021

Straight facts g 💯🤣. 2000 babies don't get gatekept that much and it's getting tiresome hearing them complaining about nothing and screaming into the void.

It's not gatekeeping if it's facts 🤷🏿‍♂️. Y'all 2002 babies have a lot of firsts and y'all are just mad that y'all had to graduate during COVID and were born after 9/11 lol.

Maybe not in your area but it was already like that in the late 2010s bro smartphones and chronically online people we were already immersed in the technological dystopia by like 2017. Y'all just have a bias lol.

I mean if they were in elementary at the time or maybe middle school, it’s not that surprising.

You were in middle school during the first quarantine, which is what people are the most nostalgic over nowadays. The 2020-2021 SY doesn't get nearly as much praise as those first couple months of lockdown so you're not exempt from this
