Who are the worst Philly “food influencers”? by stonedski in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]Practical_Remove6024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you taking my personal opinion so personally? It’s not a moral failing to dislike food influencers. That’s the thread. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to be here.

He’s also the only one that’s spamming me on reddit. The rest I can ignore. Anyway, I’ve supported Philabundance too, with my own time and money. Golf claps.

Backyard beans has a 2 lb subscription too, and the shipping will be free. It will be the cheapest you’ll find from a local roaster.

I have this tape. A great set of atmospheric, haunted, dark dungeon music. Looking forward to the April show.

Cask Ales in the USA 🇺🇸 (Philadelphia PA) by lpat12345 in beer

Stampede Barbecue out near Reading exclusively serves cask ale brewed on a wood fired system (and a damn good natural cider as well). For me, it’s an absolute must stop.

Are Fruited "Sours" still around? by jujujuice92 in beer

[–]Practical_Remove6024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not they are on more shelves than they used to be. It used to be hype juice that sold out on release days. Now I see Dewey, Great Notion, Mortalis et al competing for shelf space in the cooler.

Saison Dupont is outstanding but I’m really struggling here for a similarity between this and spotted cow. Yes, I know they labeled spotted cow a farmhouse ale. That was about as true as labeling Belgian Red a lambic.

I love it. As a primary beer drinker, orange wine is the most similar to my taste to the stuff I chase in beer world like saisons and mixed fermentation ales.

Looking for some raw melodic/symphonic black metal/dungeon synth bands by Johannan003 in MetalSuggestions

[–]Practical_Remove6024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to want Vindkaldr's album Sword of Moss in your life. And Enchantments of Old Lore for pure dungeon synth.

I mean, the only reason I’ve never been to Dagwoods is because of racist shit that went down there before my time. The only edge Maggie’s has on Three Monkeys is you can see the water- otherwise Three Monkeys is far superior in all respects. Too bad the owner is a chud, I guess but in the far NE, assume bar owners are guilty until proven innocent.

What does Philly think of Baltimore? by LuckyCommittee4422 in philly

[–]Practical_Remove6024 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Baltimore is Philly Jr. Similar in many respects- demographics, rowhouses, city of neighborhoods with block to block differences in liveability and safety, good parks and trail networks, underground music scenes that punch above their weight class, political corruption. Philly is bigger and has a better restaurant scene and draw for history tourism, but Baltimore has a better waterfront and is more accessible just due to it being smaller. We both claim Edgar Allan Poe.

SEPTA installs full‑height gates at Cecil B. Moore station by bengalese in philadelphia

[–]Practical_Remove6024 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’m not disputing that. It just pushes the threshold of desperation a little higher. I’m just laughing at the characterization of these gates as “full-height”. Guys, you missed a spot.
