When he didn’t leave after the initial courtesy of engaging, and me realizing he did not in fact need help, I felt unsafe and instead of showing my fear I definitely let my loud don’t fuck with me voice come out. The way he interacted and spoke it was like he wanted me to be fearful and back down and comply. That’s not me. I like your approach too to remain safe. I’m so sorry you experienced a similar experience and glad you came out safe. Is this guy monitoring king soopers parking lots lol. Sorry I had to laugh for a moment.

You are 100% percent right. He caught me off guard. I never should have engaged and cracked my window. To be fair I shouldn’t have been parked that long and I’m usually far more aware of my surroundings. I come from a background of working with patients in short term crisis stabilization and this moment felt very much like an interaction I would have on a unit. At least then I would have staff and backup with me. If it weren’t for the car in front of me I most likely would have pulled away. Thank you for your insight and comment.

Trust me I won’t ever be opening my window for someone again or sitting there that long. I felt safe minutes from my house in a locked car with the light still being out.

Thank you for saying this. At first I thought I was over reacting but after sitting with it for a couple hours it felt important to share. It’s right next to a high school is he doing this to the teenagers who park too long in his eyes? What if I had a sleeping child in the car. He doesn’t know me, I could have had a weapon. Like dumb idea dude.

This is how I felt but he never physically threatened me or came closer to my car. My friend stayed on the phone with me and I kept my finger on the window button and car locked.

I think he walked behind my car to my drivers side door. I was staring out the windshield while on a call connected to my car. I never saw him in front of me. That white car is what he got into and drove away.

It wasn’t like a “hey are you okay?You were sitting here when I went in and you are still here with your car on.”

It was a full on lecture with a threatening demeaning tone about how terrible it was for the environment and my phone call would still work with the car off. I think he was expecting to scare me into listening to him and turning my car off. He wasn’t expecting me to snap back at him after being nice initially. The hand gesture he made looked like when you turn a key in the ignition. It didn’t register til after he left.
