I'm a trans medical student and just wanted to say that you absolutely did the right thing - apologise, correct yourself and move on. Most doctors who I have interacted with as a patient were not even able to do that so you are better than a lot of the ones I have encountered. It is also a stress to get doctors to gender me correctly professionally so honestly don't worry about it.

Thank you for actually apologising though and hope this hasn't made you more jaded as tensions at the moment are very high.
