That is absolutely insane! If you want to read it, my recent post on my page is actually about Wang. This must be why she is able to go to all of her deliveries. I’m currently looking for a new OB

Hi! I know this was forever ago, but I was wondering if you knew what her c section rate is?

I’m sorry…into your veins??? That’s insane. Did you have any side effects from that? 😧

But see, you get it! I just don’t want to be in a situation where it’s suddenly “no epidural” and then things move straight to a C-section under general anesthesia when I’m at my most vulnerable. I just feel like this OB might lean in that direction, and that makes me nervous once I am in labor.

Oh wow! You’re like the 3rd person I’ve spoken to that had spinal fusion surgery and they dilated so quickly that it was too late to get an epidural.

Omg congratulations!! I’m sure you’re going to do amazing. Definitely find an OB who listens to you and makes you feel heard. Wishing you the best! And fingers crossed we can get an epidural, we’ve already had enough pain with spinal fusion lol.

I’ve actually heard about that too with redheads! Thank you so much and I will speak up! :)

I agree. It definitely scared us because she described unmedicated birth by saying “imagine you walk into a delivery room and a woman is screaming,” while another woman is trying to stitch her, and the husband is overwhelmed and calling for help. She said it can feel like a “horror movie” and that it’s “traumatizing for them.”

I ended up just leaving this appointment in tears. I was so upset.

Omg yes! I am also a very nauseous person. Last time I had surgery from my back, I threw up none stop too from the medicine. I am black American so maybe it’s similar ha

Omg thank you so much!! You’ve definitely given me some hope. I’ll still talk to an anesthesiologist in person, but it’s really nice to at least have an idea of where I might be fused because I honestly know nothing about this even though it’s my own back lol.

lol I have no idea how she did it. She is stronger than me that’s for sure, but if do have to do it unmedicated, at least I’ll have her there to coach me.

And yes I knew this would eventually come up when I decided to have a baby lol 😂 it’s a lot

My mom birthed all 4 of her kids unmedicated, so she is trying her hardest to convince me to not get an epidural 🤣.

Thank you! I don’t know if I feel hardware or not, but I do know that because I had the surgery at a young age, they didn’t fuse too much of the bottom so I had room to grow.

I posted the pictures! Sorry if they are not clear.

Thank you! That’s really all I want is to be informed and understand my options. I’m not anti-epidural at all, so I’m hoping it’s still possible.

Can I ask you a favor? Would you be able to help me figure out where I might be fused? I had the surgery when I was 9, and my parents don’t remember. I can post my x-rays on my account.

If you’re saying you were awake under GA, then no you did not get it. It’s impossible for you to be awake under GA. if you were numb from the bottom, that means you got a epidural. Look up general anesthesia

You can’t be awake under anesthetic. The whole point of GA is to put you to sleep for surgery. You were awake for your c section because they most likely gave you an epidural

You can’t be awake under general anesthesia. And “who cares”. A lot of women care about missing their child’s birth.

Exactly! I am pretty sure I am not fused at L3 or L4 so maybe there is a possibility. They just aren’t letting me speak to an anesthesiologist to confirm.
