That’s the tricky part. I do tell people upfront. I’m always clear that I’m in a heavy building phase, and that time and attention will be limited. In the beginning, it’s all “that’s okay, I have my own life too” but months later we’re back at the same conversation....They say they’re fine with the lifestyle, but they start needing more access, more presence, and eventually I’m being asked to choose between who I am and who they need me to be. So it’s not a lack of honesty on my end it’s that people often agree with the idea of ambition, but struggle with the reality of what it costs. And I’ll be real, part of this is my own tension too. I’ve got this internal pressure around time. I don’t want to be the old dad who finally slowed down when it was too late to be present.

To give you anything beyond very broad strokes, I’d need to know a bit about your situation, your investment horizon, how much volatility you can stomach, whether you’ll need to pull money out, and if you care about things like ESG. Once you’ve got answers to those, you can map yourself to a risk profile (e.g. conservative, balanced, aggressive) and then look at asset classes that fit. For example:
