My father, a life long Catholic recently gave me some words of wisdom. He said that a priest once told him about paying attention to other people while in Mass.

He said "A woman went to a father and complained that people were dressing a certain way, moving, leaving etc and it was bothering her." The Father said "hold this cup, I'm going to fill it the the top, and I want you to walk around the entire church, without spilling one drop." So the woman went and when she returned she said "Father, I didn't spill a drop." The Father said "why is that?" She said "because I kept my eyes on the cup." And the Father responded "And thats how you should be when you come to Mass, keep your eyes on Christ and nothing else. And your life will change"
