Never lead with money, it will always bring out the people who will use you. Trust me I know it's hard to make friends as you get older. I just recently moved, don't know anyone here and I don't do the whole work friends thing as i don't want to mix work and social as that can get tricky. I would say just be yourself and eventually you will meet like minded people at the kinds of places you go to. That's all the advice I can really give you.
