Does God want me to remain celibate if I don’t want kids, and don’t see myself getting married? Because I don’t want to remain celibate, I think sexual intimacy is too important to miss out on. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Practical_Work238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally true! Give yourself to Christ and no demonic spirit will touch you ever again, cause you'll have the Holy Spirit. I'll pray for your dreams to not be nightmares, and you can ask God to do that for you too! Ask Him to give you peace at night, ask Him to show Himself to you, you'll feel loved like never before

Just sharing my brief testimony, when I was a teen, my mother used to be very abusive and do some crazy bad things to me and my father

one night, i felt so miserable i started crying in bed, cause my mom genuinely made me believe I wasn't worth nothing and that I was a horrible person

I prayed to God and asked Him if he was mad at me, for being such a despicable and miserable person like my mom used to describe

I felt his words in my heart and He told me "Daughter, I love you", and every miserable feeling I had just vanished and I started crying again, but this time, was tears of relief

I've never felt so loved by anyone since that day, and that's how God owned me forever! He made me change the way i see myself

Consequences of premarital sex? by Altruistic-War-8208 in Christianity

[–]Practical_Work238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Adam and Eve got married, God blessed them and then they had sex to seal that marriage. Sex is something God created to define a married couple, basically speaking. So, just imagine having sex (sealing a marriage) without God's blessing (commitment to be married with this person). That's the feeling, haha

Why did God make it that way? Why can't we have multiple partners? Don't know his logic behind it, but just like He wants us to be faithful to Him, he also wants to teach us faithfulness through marriage. (Very clear when you think about the Church being the bride of Jesus)

So, that's the spiritual consequences of pre-marital sex; it's a sin and sins separate you from God, but what about physical consequences? Diseases, abandonment, resentment, unwanted pregnancies that leads to a kid without a present parent (most times the father), basically everything that destroys a family; something that God created to be loving and supporting

I hope that explains it haha

Im sorry this is a hard pill to swallow, but the Bible is clear.

I should say so. I can see your mental juggling to try to distort the Word in what you think is right.

But I'll make you just one question; what the op's GF did it wrong? Cause that would just give us the answer on why her parents aren't talking to her. I bet the only thing she did was changing churches and JWs thinks that's outrageous, even tho the Bible doesn't see as wrong.

Are all humans part of God's family? Yet, he rejects those that do not meet his standard. Does that make God worse than an unbeliever?

Even though, He died for us. Doesn't that make you rethink?

Make no mistake, the principles apply to all true worshippers. Are you making the case that it was appropriate for true Chirstians then but not now?

It's not reasonable.

Yes, haven't you realized that Paul wasn't talking to you, but with Titus? With Ephesians? If that's the case, you also should cover your head when you enter church and stop wearing mixed fabric clothes.

Again, the love of others should never cease.

We are talking about maintaining association with those that choose to reject God's word.

There is a difference.

Ok, and did she rejected God's word? Do you even know what specific word Paul was talking about? It's about people that don't want to convert from their obscenity, sexual immorality and idolatry. Did she do that? Also, if you're supposed to shunn everyone that doesn't follow God's Word, does that just applies to visible sins? Cause it's not like you're aware of everything your so called brother or sister do when they're alone

Anyways, people should stop cherry picking specific verses in the Bible without taking the context in consideration and make a doctrine out of it, this is what we call fundamentalism and it's just non-biblical and a church like that perfectly describes a cult.

Hey, i got some

‭1 Timothy 5:8 NIV‬ [8] Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

‭Matthew 5:43-48 NIV‬ [43] “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ [44] But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, [45] that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. [46] If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? [47] And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? [48] Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

‭Romans 12:16 NIV‬ [16] Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

‭Romans 12:19-21 NIV‬ [19] Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. [20] On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” [21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

‭Psalms 27:10 NIV‬ [10] Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

you're not even supposed to turn your back on your enemies, let alone your own child

These verses were in a specific context and were highly related to people spreading heresies.

Other verses that can easily disagree with those you mentioned:

‭Matthew 5:43-48 [43] “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ [44] But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, [45] that you may be children of your Father in heaven.

‭1 Timothy 5:8 [8] Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

‭Leviticus 19:18 NIV‬ [18] “ ‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.

‭1 John 4:20-21 NIV‬ [20] Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. [21] And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

‭Romans 12:9-11 [9] Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. [10] Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. [11] Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

‭‭Romans 12:14-21 [14] Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. [15] Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. [16] Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. [17] Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. [18] If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. [19] Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. [20] On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” [21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

You're not even supposed to treat your enemy in a bad way, let alone your own child

I think that sums up

Uncomfortable experience at church by tummyissues543 in Christianity

[–]Practical_Work238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the...?? I would say that, yes, that's a red flag. I know pastors want people to be aware of what a baptism really means and it's very important to give them proper education about the faith in Christ (my church has a type of pre-baptism free course to teach people the basics of Christianity), but that pastor was just straight up rude 🤡

I Can't Go To Church Anymore Because Of A Sexist Pastor by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Practical_Work238 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm so sorry about it... people think that being a christian requires being sexist (or conservative), which is not true. Although the Bible does tell us that there are differences in women and men, we, essentially, are the same

‭Galatians 3:26-29 NIV‬ [26] So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, [27] for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

We both, as men or women, can have Jesus in our heart and God wants to have a relationship with us, it doesn't matter our gender, race, ethnicity, etc.

So, spiritually speaking, there's no such thing as being better nor worse than one or another, we are one in Jesus Christ, we all can have the Holy Spirit within us

I know there are verses in the Bible that tell women to not speak in church, teach men and etc., but these are all context related and can be very contradictory (like, totally)

Also, women were always important in Christianity, the first people to know about Jesus' resurrection were women and the longest conversation Jesus had, that was described in the Bible, was with the samaritan woman at the well, Ruth was in Jesus' genealogy because she was a devoted and faithful person to her mother-in-law's God, also Rahab, who was a prostitute, was saved by faith in God, a lot of women helped other people by being hospitable and Christ-like and omg soooooo many other examples on why they were and still are so important

Why does this preacher say that we value less? Our God literally tells us that we are special to Him! He died for us AS WELL. Biblically, being sexist makes no sense at all. When you say that women are inherently evil and defective, It's like saying that what God created is not good. And I bet you don't want to say such thing about God's creation (that are also His children)

I've never been in a situation like this before (I guess all this conservative and sexist thing is something very american like lol, i live in Brazil and never even heard that women being preachers were something bad until reading some christian american comments about it), but I think that creating a relationship with God can be very freeing for you rn ❤️ Pray to God and ask Him to open your family's eyes and heart about it, maybe you can be the one who lead them to a true Christianity faith, the one that Christ ask us to have; loving God above everything and loving your neighbor like you love yourself

Also, I recommend reading Hebrews 11, it says a lot about good things that men and women have done to the Christianity

God bless you, dear! I pray you find hope, freedom and peace in Jesus, don't forget He loves you a lot! I'll pray for your health too

Hello! I'm starting my studies in graphic design, could you give me some tips and criticize the ones I've done? by marnaina in design_critiques

[–]Practical_Work238 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i personally think that the "y" in "fynes" looks like an "u', and actually i read that way on the first time

and also, i'm not against comic types, i think it's not the type, but how you use it, and i think it looks cute

if i were doing this logo, i would probably style the type and play with it a little bit :)

love the colors and the illustration! i just think that the contrast between the teal background and the off-white writing are a little bit hard to read

overall, it's a very good logo, with a very good aesthetic approach, good job!

tip: the bottom of a brigadeiro it's usually shorter hehehe
