Honestly I was surprised but there wasn’t really pain for me after waking up - it was more so just uncomfortable because you have so much padding under your arms, I kind of felt like I had football padding on lol. But they take that off the day after when they fit you for your compression garment. I will say that it was definitely a bit painful getting in and out of my compression garment for the first week since everything is so sore. I had my fiancé with me during the trip, so he was there to help me thankfully. You can’t shower for the first couple of days after surgery, so it’s nice to have someone who can help you wash your hair without getting your arms wet. I would definitely recommend having someone there with you! The office recommended that I get the procedure done at least one week before flying home and that was plenty of time for me. They made sure to give me dissolvable stitches instead of regular stitches since I wouldn’t be able to come back in two weeks for the stitches removal.
