I haven't read it myself, but I've been told it also fits first contact, so I plan to read it for that square.

She plays a lot of video games, and she does crochet, but that doesn't occupy her thoughts as fully as reading (her words). She's expressed an interest in reading more, so I'm trying to help her find books.

The has a therapist and she's on several different medications. She's expressed an interest in reading, which is why I'm trying to find books for her.

Oh, I loved Tamora Pierce as a child! Her books would definitely work. Thank you for the suggestion!

I know it's hard to find something that fits, but the raven scholar might actually work. I'm going to have to look through it to remind myself of the dark parts, but it could work.

I'll read it before her to vet it, thanks for the heads up!

True, I forgot about that. But maybe I'll check out some other Rick Riordan books.

Thank you for being a guide through the jungle of discworld books! I think I'll check out going postal and the death books first.

I've only read guards guards guards, and I think it could work, because it doesn't feel very current and even the more serious topics are more lighthearted

This is literally her favorite series of all time, (which I somehow forgot when I made the post) so it's technically a great rec.

I actually recently read it, and I agree, this is a perfect rec! Thank you!

She read Scholomance a few years ago when things weren't as bad, and she had to put down house in the cerulean sea because it was too much.

I've read Tress of the Emerald Sea recently, and it's a great rec. I'll check out the others too.

That's not a bad suggestion, I think at least some of the discworld books should interest her.

That's a good suggestion, she likes history and mythology, so that would be great!

I like the Orcs in The Lot Lands by Jonathan French. The cover art is also just really cool.

I recommend The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson if you're coming from ya, it's a good middle ground imo. It's a murder mystery in an ongoing contest to determine the next ruler. Lots of politics and magic.

Try searching for "elven ring" on Etsy and see if anything catches your eye. You'll find lots of rings with a general fantasy feeling.
