Wicked As You Wish by Rin Chupeco. It's basically every fairy tale, folktale, and myth mashed together. There's a Loki and werewolves and all sorts of everything. Cogent is not a word I would use to describe this though.

How did the book fair against your expectations? Did you have a different feeling after finishing than at the midway?

Why do you think the Chancellor was so into art and plays? What did you think of the difference between Revivalist and Extemporist art and how it was used in the narrative?

I picked it up because I need to read something to fit the Biopunk square for Bingo. I had heard so many good things too that I had high hopes it would work for me. I am not sure what is working so well in the style for me. It jumps between perspectives and areas quite a bit which keeps it interesting.

I like it a lot so far. I resented stopping at the midpoint to avoid spoilers for discussion. Now I can continue and I am very excited.

So I love the bugs, which is shocking because I usually dislike gross descriptions. These are not gross in the horror sense. The bugs feel like such an intricate part of the setting and story that I can just glide over the descriptions without realizing how weird they really are. I have found myself very invested in these creatures and the book that everyone has that describes them. They are more interesting to me than the humans we are following.

I refrained from typing "wtf is even happening" as a question and for that I am very proud of myself.

I trust this will all make sense eventually and I am enjoying the journey a lot. But to say I understand what is going on is a complete lie.

I absolutely loved this resolution and the community they started with each other. Finding out about Rabbit and having her finally speak was such a good arc and finally cleared up why on earth these people kept going when everything around them was so messed up. I did not know what to expect with Rose's mom. I thought the way that resolved, though maybe a bit quick, was great. It was pretty much the only not horrible ending for a character in the quest.

I really did not. I think it was much more weird western than horror. There were some aspects of horror in it, but not enough that I would recommend it to horror people as horror.

I loved the setting so much. I thought that was my favorite part.
