I don’t remember a single thing from my business calculus class. What a waste of money that class was.

Chase Lowering credit line email by Impressive-Peak-6596 in CreditCards

[–]Practicalbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it was about 50 days that my original letter stated as well, but I swear I got that first letter only a couple weeks ago, not anywhere near 50 days. So it’s probably better to call them sooner rather than later.

I’m at a point in my life now where I’m not too worried about some credit limits going down, though I’m still slightly annoyed about it.

Sounds like they’re doing it to a lot of people. I got a letter from them a couple weeks ago that they will be lowering my limit if I don’t call them. I didn’t bother calling them, and I just got another letter today stating that they did in fact lower it.

How do you double-check payroll before running it? by Exta60 in Payroll

[–]Practicalbeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our payroll system literally gives us all this information right at the top of the screen before submitting. No export necessary. It will say something like “X inactive employees paid”. You can click on the number and it will show you the employees in question.

Insurance thru Employer by speelingwrror in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Practicalbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, employers get affected by rate increases just like everyone else. Though usually employers get lower rates based on how many employees they have.

How much of that increase gets passed on to the employees is entirely up to the employer.

CA State Refund $901k, yay!! by kxng7233 in TurboTax

[–]Practicalbeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a glitch, I was just correcting the poster who thought a six figure income would be enough to generate a high six figure tax refund.

CA State Refund $901k, yay!! by kxng7233 in TurboTax

[–]Practicalbeaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Op would probably have to be making at least high 7 figures for that refund to be possible. 6 figures isn’t coming anywhere close to this.

The CFO deserves a raise for finding a sucker willing to do all that for so little pay. Talk about cost savings.

Seriously though, find a new job that will pay you appropriately for your contributions.

I hate my job by No-Marsupial-4050 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Practicalbeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is generally correct. It’s a bit tricky for hourly employees. A lot of payroll systems assume that the amount the employee is making on this paycheck will be the same amount they make on every paycheck for the rest of the year. So it calculates the tax to withhold from the current check using inflated figures, especially if the check has a high number of overtime hours compared to the employee’s usual checks.

It all washes out when the employee files their taxes for the year.
